My one week old SJ30 has developed a digitizer problem. In Clie Paint moving straight across the display from the top left to the top right a distinct 'dip' appears in the first third of the line. Also it often fails to even respond when trying to go from right to left.

I was wondering how common this problem is either with Clies in general or SJ30's in particular. I guess i'll try to return it tomorrow, although I hope I can find an SJ30 to replace it with, but if this is a common problem maybe I should get a different model. I hope not 'cause I like the '30's style more than any other one out there.

Any help or advice is appreciated!

I had this problem for a few weeks on a 3 month old SJ33. It caused me to return the thing for the SJ33 because it cannot be fixed, even with digitizer resetting. Return it while you still can.

An update - i'm the original poster.

I figured out what killed the digitizer.

I had a screen protector on that overshot the top of the display a little so I used my fingernail to try to press it down along the top edge of the display. This was enough to ruin the digitizer. I know this is the case because after it happened I pressed the top again in the same way and the problem got worse. So BE CAREFUL WITH THE DIGITIZER, don't use ANY kind of 'excessive force' beyond what's normally required to operate the device. IMO the amount of force I used shouldn't have caused damage, like I said I was just trying to seat the screen protector! Apparently the difitizer doesn't have a lot of tolerance for additional force - BE CAREFUL.
