IF you take a look around in the NX forum, there is a thread about what does and doesn't work on the NX using JackFlash.

The best news for NX (and probably NZ) users is that b3 takes care of some stability issues on these units, so no more freezes when moving things to Flash.

I try it on My NZ90 it only 3372kb when compare to NX70 's 4479kb. Now i know why some people say it is consider downgrade from NX to NZ.

Ok, I know JackFlash is out but JackSprat will never be out. How about JackSafe? Is that working for OS5 now?

For OS5 one has to use FlashEnable (included in distribution).

I did -- works fine! I also put DateBook5, Tealphone, TealAuto, TealLock, ePocrates, AcidImage, Fonts4NX up there - all work like a charm! Keep in mind that the databases for all these pgms must remain in conventional RAM, so that they will symch as they should, and so they can be rewritten as needed. I still have 1565K free Flash, but then I also have a good deal of stuff on my MS.

Back to basics? I'm finally now brave enough to give Jack Flash a try. I've read through the whole thread and the thread about what works/what doesn't, but still have a couple of questions.
1) I use Power Run and ZLauncher (recent convert). Should I move programs moved to memory stick via PowerRun back into RAM before moving either the program or PowerRun with Jack Flash?
2) Other than exiting ZLauncher and then moving ZL with JackFlash---anything else I should know? Better not to move it at all? Right now I run ZLauncher from internal memory because it seemed a pain to wait for it to load back each time I switched apps. It is fairly large....nice to be able to move it with JackFlash if it's not going to cause problems later.
3) Made backup with both BackupMan and MSBackup. Anything else I need to do? These backups are made with PowerRun and ZLauncher used as normal.
4) Did I remember to say thanks in advance for any help? Thanks!

I also have another question.
Can the system update files from sony be put in flash? And is there any way that the programs in flash will be accessible after a hard reset without having to hotsync or use msbackup?

1) Fairly sure that is a yes, though I'm not sure exactly which files you are referring to 2) Yes, it is in th instructions. Flash is not removed during a hard reset.

Thanks about your first reply. But I didn't explain my quesiton well. I understand that the flash is not removed with a hard reset. But I thought that to access those programs, jackflash would have to be installed....which requires a hotsync.

infty - Sony ClieFiles v1.1 update can't go in Flash (see other threads for details, but basically it appears to be because there is already a file with that name in ROM). I'd imagine this would also affect driver updates, etc. unless they bear different names from their predecessors which is unlikely

1- You can only move programs from RAM to the flash, so any apps you want to move there would have to be moved off the Memory Stick first.
2-Actually, you don't even need to exit ZLauncher. And it works fine from flash. But remember that ZLauncher is updates very regularly, so you might have to move it in and out of flash alot.
3-That should be fine

I wouldn't try it. If there are files in flash with the same name as the ones you are trying to move into it (like many of the system update files which are just updated versions of the same file already in flash) then it won't work. Whats worse, is JackFlash makes it look like it was successful and even delete the file from RAM. And if you go into the app and tell it to move the file back from flash to RAM, it will move the older copy that was always in the flash.

Thanks cbulock, I understand and made the move...works like a charm! I moved PowerRun, ZLauncher, Quicken, my Zlauncher background image...some other misc things...all ok! I love the new-found space!
