Hi!

I’ve a problem with my Cliè UX50 and my Apple iBook 12”. When I try to check the email with snappermail or cliemail or I try to open a webpage with Netfront 3.0 I get this error: “Invalid network settings”

The Wlan connection is ok. If I launch SMBMate or WiFile ora Active Sync via Wi-Fi everything works like a charm (I’m able to swap files, syncronize with missingsync, etc..), no problems.
The only problem I got is with internet connection

Now I’m going to tell you my configuration.

IBook 12” with Airport Extreme (I’ve no external access point, the ibook IS my access point)
I’ve checked Windows File Sharing on System Preference.
In system preference->Network->Internet I’ve activated the sharing between the Airport and my built-in Ethernet (I’ve a Zyxel Prestige 642-R router connected to my Ethernet port)

Built-in Ethernet parameters:
IP: 192.168.1.33 (the IP of my ibook)
SubNetMask: 255.255.255.0
Route: 192.168.1.1 (this is the gateway, address of my Ethernet router)

Airport parameters:
IP: 192.168.0.1
SubNetMask: 255.255.255.0
Route: 192.168.0.1

Cliè UX-50 Settings
Prefs->Network->Wireless Lan
I’ve done the scan, the cliè found my lan and I’ve manually edit the settings in this way:
SSID= mySSID
WEP Key: not used
AdHoc mode: 1st ch
IP Address: DHCP not checked
In IP address I’ve entered this settings:
IP Address: 192.168.0.2
NetMask: 255.255.255.0
Route: 192.168.0.1
DNS primary: empty
DNS secondary: empty
Auto connect: checked

With these settings SMBMate, ActiveSync via Wi-Fi (properly configured) and WiFile works great and I’m able to exchange files between my ibook and cliè UX50.

The only thing that doesn’t work is internet connection
When I try to open a webpage (ex. www.google.com) I get an “invalid network settings” error
Same thing if I try to check the mail with clièmail or snapper mail (I’ve seen the log it tells me the DNS address is not properly configured)

Anyone can help me?
Thanks in advance

Should the Route be set to the ibook address rather than the router address ?

That is 192.168.0.33 rather than 192.168.0.1 on the UX50.

Should I set 192.168.1.33 in Route option of UX50 instead of 192.168.0.1?
If I do so I think that wifi file exchange will not work anymore as 192.168.0.1 is the IP address of my airport, don't you think?

I am a little confuse. How come you aiport has the same address as your router ?

Also when you activate internet sharing between your airport and ethernet do you get an up arrow on you airport wireless icon ?

When I activate internet sharing I don't see any arrow...
This is what I’ve done:

Sharing-Internet- I've activate sharing from my Airport to my Ethernet (and not from my Ethernet to my Airport)

If I do the sharing from my Ethernet to my Airport I see an arrow (up) but the wifi file exchange between my ux50 and the mac doesn’t work anymore and I’m not able to hotsync with wifi

Any help?

When you share your Ethernet with Airport, the option with the up arrow does netfront work ?

Usually the 192.168.x.x address is internal to local network settings. How do you get out to the Internet? Is Internet connection available to 192.168.x.x network? Maybe you need two WiFi profiles on your Palm OS device.

Hi Eric
I've IP 192.168.1.33 and for internet my gateway (IP of my router) is 192.168.1.1
I've also noticed that If I assign to airport and cliè addresses in 192.168.1.x range wi-fi file exchange doesn't work. I must assign to my airport (and to my cliè) IP like 192.168.0.x

Is your Internet connection always live?

yes
I'm always connected
In the router (zyxel r642) I've specified IP's (192.168.1.33 for the mac and 192.168.1.1 for the router) and my provider data (login, dns, etc.), so when I turn on the router it automatically connect to the internet

Hi!

Airport parameters:
IP: 192.168.0.1
SubNetMask: 255.255.255.0
Route: 192.168.0.1

Thanks in advance

Why is your route to 192.168.0.1? Shouldn't it be to 192.168.1.1? Have you tried this already?

tried
But if I enter 192.168.1.1 in Airport parameters Mac tell me The Router address you entered is not in this computer subnet. I've tried to confirm the same, but internet connection doesn't work

Try setting your ISP's DNS settings manually in your ux50.

solved!
I've enabled Internet sharing in sharing-internet as follow:

from Built-in ethernet to Built-in ethernet (and NOT to Airport)
Thanks to all for the support
