Greetings all,
I've just received a 512MB Memory Stick Pro from B&H Photo Video, and so far in my limited testing it appears to be completely compatible with the NZ90 series. I know others have posted that they have noticed problems with the MSP and the NX series, but the NZ90 doesn't appear to have those same problems.
Specifically, in addition to basic read/write testing, I've tested using both the camera app and the movie recorder app and both work fine with no crashes or glitches. The picture files are readable in the appropriate applications, and the movie files play back just fine.
Also, I have several mp3's in the MSAUDIO directory, and the Audio Player plays them just fine - it does not appear to have the two second intro problem.
Additionally, I've tested my own programs, Power48 and a special purpose animation file viewer, and both programs show noticable speed improvements in both writing and reading to the MSP over a stock memory stick.
More fuel for the fire....

I'm glad to see that it is working fine so far, and that you got it from B and H. That is where I ordered my 512 mb ms also. I ordered it yesterday. I hope that I get it soon. How long did it take for yours to arrive?

B and H has it for $269.95. I don't think that is the best price around, but still pretty good (especially if they have it in stock, unlike other sites that say the do, then don't). Here's a link to it.

jedix, good for your country people. My country still sell at US$340. Why so good at US? How i wish they got the capablity to serve to inernational market.

Competition, I guess......the market lowers the price. $340? wow! That's higher than what Sony U.S. sells it for directly! That stinks!

I ordered it originally from pagecomputer, but they cancelled the order becuase they don't actually have any in stock. Plus, I have heard bad things about them. Here is a copy of the e-mail they sent me after confirming my order. This was sent to me 3 days ago - the same day I ordered from them.
Thank you for placing your order with Page Computer.
Unfortunately, the product you requested SDMSP-512-822, 512MB MEMORY STICK PRO is currently unavailable.
We have attempted to source the item from all our suppliers across the country, but we were unsuccessful. On occasions,
we receive more orders than we have products before our website is updated. Also if you ordered over the weekend there is
no one to physically research the order until the following working day. Please note that we are closed on Saturday and
Sunday.
We try our best to fulfill your order as we appreciate your business, and your business makes our business successful.
We feel it is in your best interest that we cancel your order, so that you have ample time to source the product from
another supplier. We do not benefit from turning your business away and apologize for any inconvenience. Unfortunately,
we do not accept backorders because the manufacturers provide us with unreliable ETA's (estimated time of arrival) for
their products. We would not be providing the best service to our customers by holding an order and not knowing when it
will be available to ship. We have not charged your credit card. In the event that we have charged your card, please
notify us immediately, so we can reverse the charges as soon as possible.
Our Deepest Apologies,
Bjorn

I ordered mie from B&H also. $269.95. also. Read somewhere that others have had problems with pagecomputers in the past. Just be careful if it sounds too good to be true.

For those who are interested, B and H Photo & Video is a good, reputable place to buy from - I highly recommend them.
I ordered it yesterday. I hope that I get it soon. How long did it take for yours to arrive?
Well, I ordered one on Thursday with Priority Overnight shipping, but Fedex messed it up and put my package in with the Fedex Saver packages, so it got delayed until next Tuesday of next week. I called B & H about it on Friday and had them ship out another one with Prioirty Overnight Saturday delivery and it arrived today at about 11:45 AM. Now all I have to do is refuse delivery of the first one.
I haven't had time to do anymore testing today but I'll try to do more tomorrow. Is there anything specific someone would like me to try?

have you noticed a faster read/write speed/playback in Movie Record? probably doesn't improve the blockiness of the image, does it?
YTTAN
03-23-2003, 09:09 PM
There is no related about the blockiness of the image whether you use ms or mspro as it is the limitation of the design of the set or CPU or softwares to cause it to blockiness.

The data rate is actually limited by the recorder software itself, much below the technical limit.
Just curious, are there any NX users who already have a 512+ MB MemoryStickPro

yeah i have to be admit that our housing is 3rd highest value in the whole world just below the Japan(Tokyo) and Hong kong.
But for car, it is the most expensive you can get in the whole world. While mobile phone is average when compare to other country.
sindu, are you from Singapore too?

Greetings,
Unfortunately I must report two incompatibilities found by aaronchow with regards to the NZ and the 512M MSP. Both the MSImport utility and the transfer function of the Audio Player fail to recognize the MSP. You can use an extern memory stick reader to put files on to the MSP and they are readable by the audio player, you just can't use either of the above utilities to do it.
Alas, we too must stand in line and wait for the patch for full compatibility...
