This has been touched on in some other threads but I haven't seen an answer yet; I hope that isn't because there is no answer.

Here's my situation: I have a TH55 (currently in the shop, but this is my usual PDA) and an old faithful SJ20. While the TH55 is in the shop, I wanted to use the SJ20 as a temporary replacement.

When I try to sync the SJ20, though, I get no response from the computer I normally sync to. The SJ20 starts up the sync, but the PC shows no sign of recotgnizing the SJ20 is there. I suspect the hotsync manager was changed when I installed the software for the TH55 - is there a newer version that isn't backward compatible?

The connection doesn't seem to be the problem, as I am able to run MSImport and see a meomry stick in the SJ20 on the PC desktop as expected. It's just hotsyncing that fails to work.

Does anyone out there sync multiple vintages of Clie to the same computer, and if so did you run into this kind of problem?

Thanks for any help you can give me, folks.

Steve

Hi, I hotsync my TH55 (new), Palm T|E, SJ33 and SJ30 to my laptop on the same profile and I've no problem. Initially when I bought the SJ33 and I was having some issues while hotsyncing the SJ30. It kept asking for device driver when I tried to hotsync SJ30. If you search within SJ forums, you may find that thread.

I'm not a technical person, so I can't tell you what I did that solved the issues. It could be due to WinXP cuz I was using it then. Now I'm using W2k.

I guess what you could do is to uninstall Palm Desktop. Re-install Palm Desktop for SJ33, then install Palm Desktop for TH55 after that. So the add-ons and driver for SJ33 will remain & it should hotsync fine.

Hope this will be of some help to your case. ;)
