View Full Version : do i have to drain the battery to 0% in the first use?

i just got my gunmetal nx70 yesterday and i charged the battery for 4 hours until the led turn off...

im wondering do i have to drain the battery to 0% in the first use??? to maximize the battery life???

appreciate all your help..

No... this would actually shorten the life span of your battery. You want to always keep it charged as close to 100% as you can. This doesn't mean you need to freak out and have it charging constantly though.. just use the unit normally and charge it when you can. But do not intentially drain it all the way. This will damage the battery in the end.

the reason why i brought this up was becuz ppl from nz90 forum said they have to drain in order to maximize their battery life...

The Smart LithiumIon in the NZ is a very different animal from what we have in the NX. The Smart Lion battery has a ton of software and hardware that is supposed to help the unit get the most out of the battery. Apparently this software needs to be calibrated by running through a few cycles. The battery in the NX isn't nearly as complex though, so it doesn't have the same issues.
