Don't get it if it's straight from Sony. If something does go wrong, you will be S-O-L.

considering you can still buy them, brand-new, from Best Buy for $599.99, plus coverage plan ($70). Considering $200 makes it a third the price, I'd say 33% off is a good deal.

the only thing would be to be concerned about the shape of the body... since it is refurbished, not open-item, model then you're basically getting a brand-new (with bad or faulty parts replaced/repaired) device for 2/3 the price.

Agreeing with Shog, if it is
from ANYONE OTHER than Sony, Go for it, That price is good as long as you have a return option if something is wrong with it. and sony WILL try to make you keep it if it is bad. (5 hours old when i called their service, straight out of their box....Water damage and they want 500 bucks to fix it...Sony Service is $^# and #%^%^ as well as *^&$%@$'s.)

Ask CompUSA if the will sell you a warranty for it even though you didn't buy it from them. If yes, then you can't lose!

I thought refurbished items should have perfect cosmetic also w/ only replaced parts. Recently I just purchased a refurbished discman from Sony. (it's the limited edition slot-in discman released 2 years ago) Unfortunately, there're minor cosmetic defects on the outside. All the accessories are new though.

So think before you buy.
