Hi,
I am having problem using bluetooth to surf the internet from my TG50 (wireless hotsync is okay). After reading all the related articles, I still have not been able to get it working, wondering if some of you can help.
Here's my setup:
TG50 -> Bluetooth -> Computer -> Cable router. So in my Network Connections page, I have two LAN connections, one for my BT and one for my Ethernet card. When I try to enable ICS on my LAN card, it says "A LAN connection is already configured with the IP address that is required for automatic IP addressing". The local IP of my router is 192.168.0.10; that for my LAN card is 192.168.0.166. I have tried changing the latter one to 192.168.0.1 and then enabled ICS -> same error. Still cannot access web site using the NetFront browser. :(
Any other suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

I had the same problem. Then I fixed it - wrote a long post about it and then the forum got corrupted and it's been lost ever since. Too bad since I really need to remember how I did it since I lost my settings. Right now I can't figure out how to get a network connection setting for my BT =P ANyway, since you're much farther along than I am, I believe what I did was changed my router IP address to 192.168.1.1 (it used to be 192.168.0.1) and then changed my computer IP to 192.168.1.100 (it used to be 192.168.0.100). This freed up the 192.168.0.1 address ICS seems to want to use by default.
So I would suggest changing your router address to 192.168.1.10 and your LAN card to 192.168.1.166
Reboot. Check to make sure you have an internet connect that works and then try enabling ICS.
Hope that helps.
Now back to trying to figure out how to add my BT adapter to have it's own network setting =)

Thanks! I spent two fruitless nights accomplishing nothing! You are cool! I can now enable ICS.
Initially, I still cannot access the web. After taking out the hardcoded IP access in my palm, everything starts flowing.
Thanks again.

No problem. Glad to be of help.
Keep in mind, this method does not work well if you use fast-user switching in WindowsXP. For some reason when you switch users it all gets messed up and you can't connect / stay connected. At least that's what it does for me. Currently I'm using mochappp and have it running on one of the user accounts that's always open. Seems to work fine.

But when I got NetFront to run, it always initiates a Network Access connection rather than a Serial Adaptor one. How do you change this behavior so that you can run Mocha PPP?

My guess is that your BT setup should be like mine in that on the Desktop (and also in the control panel) you should have a "My Bluetooth Places" icon. Right click and choose "explore" (or just double click). If you have folder view turned on click on the "my device" icon that should be under the "My bluetooth places" icon. (If you have that funky WinXP view choose "view my bluetooth services"). Find the icon for network access, right click it, go into properties and uncheck the "startup automatically." Click "OK". Then right click it again and choose "stop." Go into the properties for your serial port service and make sure "start automatically" is checked. Let me know if you run into any more problems after that.

I found out what my problem was. Apparently havving any hacks enabled screws up the MS BT operation. I disabled all my hacks, then turned out the Network access profile on both of the users on my computer and now I can connect to the internet on my Clie when either user is logged in. I thought maybe it was just one problematic hack, so I tried testing them one by one, but each one I enabled would cause a fatal exception. When I turned them all off, I wouldn't get the reset. I guess I'll just have to remember to disable my hacks when I connect from now on =)

actura, the easiest thing I think you can do if you are using WinXP is go to Control Panel->Network Connections. Right click on your Ethernet card where your cable router is connected to and run the wizad to share the internet connection. XP will bridge your bluetooth for you and you should be able to surf immediately.
Hope this helps.

Reggie, I got mine working using Network Connection, so I am all happy. I don't know if it is faster or slower than the serial adapter. I was just asking dark79 whether I could use serial for curiosity.
I am using TG50, which I don't think works with hacks at all. So no hacks for me as of now.
I am not doing any bridging. I only enable ICS and things are working fine.
A separate question. Which browsers do you guys use? I am using NetFront but am trying to see if there is something better.
Thanks for all the suggestions. People are so helpful here.

I'm on an NR70V so no OS5 for me =) When my NX70V (gunmetal grey yay!) comes in I'll give nefront a go, until then I'm using Xiino.
Also, I don't think serial connection is any faster or slower than network, but I prefer using the network connection since you don't have to bother with running mochaPPP and you generally have less problems.

So you are very hooked to the N series :) My last PDA was Palm Vx, so it is already a big jump for me.
You are not upgrading just to get the ARM CPU and OS5, but for the big screen right? Otherwise, you may not feel a lot of differences.
I was expecting wireless connection to be a lot faster than what I am getting. Possibly the CPU is the bottleneck. My friend who is on a Dell Axim/Wifi is saying that his is slow also.
Let me try Xiino tonight. I tried to run PocketLink a couple days ago, but it crashed right in my face. Just found out from PalmGear.com and they have yet another version yesterday. That only means I should wait a couple months more....
