Now, I've been trying to do away with my dependency of the EB40 so I've been trying to leave it at home as much as possible. However, I am wondering if I should completely discharge the battery prior to extended storage. I know that the battery with self discharge by itself, but I am wondering what is the best option in order to maintain its life. I also will store it at room temperature, even though I know that cooling it is optimum. Please help me out soon, I have my PDA running Napoleon Dynamite until the EB40 is expired...so answer fast...Thanks!
BTW, I am expriing the EB40 cause I figured that having it empty is best since every product you buy has you charge it fully for first use.

Since I broke my EB40, I didn't have my handheld around so I hadn't used it for a long time as well as my handheld. Now that I have a new one, I have kept my screen brightless at low, my Underclocker DA at 32Mhz, and only played music. I've browsed the web, but not for any longer than 10 min via WiFi or Bluetooth. I want to get the battery extender so that I can put my 2050mah batteries in it and use that to charge my UX's internal battery every so often that way I don't add bulk to my device and I don't have to worry about my battery running out plus, 2050mah is way more than 1600mah that the EB40 has.

I just got my EB40, it arrived today via Airborne Express. I ordered it through Sony Medical, since I work at a hospital. They told us Friday that it was backordered till March 15th. But it showed up today. And, yes, it does have the rubber feet on the bottom of it.

I believe that if you store your battery in a cool area, it will last longer but not like the freezer or anything because the EB40 is not a regular battery. It is a device with a battery (made up of 2 UX batteries  ) and a motherboard that its connected to. I don't think you want to freeze this board so just keep it in a cool area. Do not discharge it all the way because then you are already killing the life of the battery. I hope this helps. :(

I believe the best way to store a lithium ion battery is at 40% charge in a cool, dry place. Since it automatically discharges, I'm not sure how someone would always keep it at 40%, but I guess you could keep it close to that.

I have it stored with 60% life in room temperature. I think that will do the job well enough...
