I am considering getting a 12" powerbook. I like the portablity of ir vs. the 15" Ti since I routinely visit 2-4 sites a day. I was wondering if anyone here has one and what your experiences have been with it?

I'm in love with my Silver Bullet (that's what I named it :D ). Admittedly, it has a few quirks, but it's a great little machine.

For one thing, it does get warm faster than my iBook did. I've found it best to leave the hinge area hanging off my knees to allow airflow, especially if I have a blanket on my lap. If it gets really warm, the fan kicks in and you get a bit of a gust of air reflected off the hinge towards you. Startled me the first time it happened!

The keyboard is excellent. I love the feel of it. Very crisp and responsive.

However, the trackpad is... quirky. Very sensitive.

I haven't picked up a Bluetooth PDA just yet, but I tried out syncing a Tungsten T to a 12" at my former place of work, and it seemed to go really well. Overall, it seems like a solid machine.

I'm also thinking about this machine. I've tried several and found the trackpad, while quite responsive, to work exactly as I would expect it to. It does run a bit warm, though. I've heard that the model with the 60 GB hard drive is noticably cooler than the 40 GB hard drive model, but it didn't seem unreasonably warm in any case. Right now, I think I'm going to hold out for the (unannounced but probable) upgrade to the 15" version.

Most laptops get warm and even hot. My g4 15inch 800mhz does that all the time. There is a wonderful gadget you can purchase for like $40 or less called "podium". It goes under the laptop and circulates air while also adjusting the angle to a perfect slant. I wouldn't be without it!

Yep. The Coolpad and Coolpad Podiums are really nice items. I may pick up one for my laptop soon.

I love my 12" AlumiBook. I've experienced none of the issues raised on the deal-mac forum except for the heat, which bothers me very little. I upgraded from a 12" iBook which I loved dearly. This is just a step up. Can't imagine lugging a 15" around. I tried a loaner for a few weeks. Too much. Hey, I have a 17" AlBook at work and it doesn't move from the desk! It's awesome, but whadda load to haul. Slide this puppy into the protection sleeve of my Brenthaven backpack and I'm off and running. Just the right weight for me.

Just ordered a NZ90 & MissingLink to go with it. Can't wait!
