I am still hoping Sharp will release a MultiMedia version of the Zaurus 3000.
So standard with WiFi (hopefully 11g), BT and camera.

Very few people have them ($$, import hassles etc). The partial Japanese is not a problem IMHO (core features are already translated). Get it if you want the amazing OLED screen, better CF slot, ultra fat battery or other features unique to the device. For general a general use PDA, there are other alternatives (including TH-55)
IMHO2: if you waited this long - probably the answer is no ;->

I agree with CliePet
I still believe the UX50 is the best handheld you can get. Its large keyboard, dual wireles, built-in Int. Media, hidable camera d backup makes it the ultimate device. Although the battery is lousy, there are many ways to extend the life your battery.

My next pda will be a zaurus. Talk about amazing hardware! It would be nice if some of the software developers for the palm os made stuff for the zaurus though. But who knows, I'm hoping my ux 50 gives me another two years of life, if it does perhaps the software development side of the Zaurus will catch up with the palm os by that time.

He is talking about if they released a new one. If it wouldn't run on a Linux OS I would also. It does everything the UX does except the camera and it has a 4GB micro drive.
If my ux50 died today I would get this Zaurus 3000 (http://www.dynamism.com/sl-c3000/). As someone mentioned the hardware specs are amazing, think of it as a UX50 on steriods. The one thing that worries me is the OS. Don't get me wrong I like linux and have some experience with it. But the fact is I'm no linux guru more of a novice. Aside from that, I have a friend who owned a previous Zaurus and he was very unhappy with it. Basically for him, nothing was ever easy (and he is a linux guru, well perhaps not a guru but has a tremendous amount of experience with the linux OS).
In my mind, a pda's appeal is its simplifity of use. Take the palm OS. Point click work. That's what I want. I have so many things that I have to learn on a daily basis the one thing I don't want to learn is how to use my new pda.
This said, I would buy one today if I was forced to get a new pda and here is why. 1) hardware already mentioned. 2) Multimedia capabilities. It's running linux so I assume that setting it up for the whole multimedia experiece is not too bad and one you've got it figured out you get the benefit of it's amazing screen.
Again, I'm hoping that I don't have to replace my ux50 soon because for what I do on a daily basis it is perfect.

There is no built in wi-fi or bluetooth on the zaurus, so on top of the already big cost you have to pay for 2 compatable cards (one compact flash, and one secure digital). Also keep in mind that there is a 4GB HARD DRIVE inside. So something is actually inside there spinning around, so potentially the zaurus would not be as rugged as a flashed based plamOS device. Though if my UX50 exploded, and I couldn't find a new one, this would be my next choice, of course I would need a lot of cash too.
