I've been a happy user of an NX70V for a long time now. However a couple of things about it are pushing me into wanting to upgrade to a newer machine.

The battery isn't what it used to be, it runs down a lot quicker now. The build in 16 megs is feeling more and more cramped, and it has no wireless built in (BT or WiFi).

The Zodiac 2 seems to solve almost all of my upgrade needs. I would miss the camera though since I have used it for impromptu shots.

But my main question is, what is there about the Zodiac 2 that would be non-standard? For example, the NX70V uses the older Sony sound APIs and some current software won't run (or may run if I use the MSI layer). What types of things would I have to look out for when adding software to the machine?

TIA.

Basically, everything that uses OS5 works on the Zodiac. The Zodiac supports everything...all your sounds, movies, etc. will run on it. There's no worries when adding software to it - the worst that has happened to me is a soft reset, no biggie - and that was just because the app was designed for OS3, not 5. :D I love my Zodiac 2!! You don't realize how much you want hardware landscape/portrait rotation! :D

Definetly get the Zodiac 2, I went from a NZ90 to the Zodiac 2, and only regret it a little bit, and the only regrets are, no camera and not keyboard. I love my Zodiac and no as soon as my WiFi gets fixed on it, I'll be fully set.

ydjk58 - Check out the beta release of the Wi-Fi drivers that have been posted on the Tapwave website. A lot of people are posting that they fix most of their problems.

The new Wi-Fi drivers are excellent. I went from a NX80 to the T2 and it has been a very happy transition. Everything I have tried so far runs well on the T2. Including everything that didn't work on the NX80.

I have only had some problems with MMPlayer, but that was even worse on my NX80. It is at least usable on the T2.

sorry foghead, tried the new drivers, same problem, I think my card is definetly bad, it would lock up the Zodiac when looking for wireless networks. I'm am going to try and exchange my bad palmpne card for a sandisk card, possibly the wifi+256 card, just because I can. Hope you don't mind I "borrowed" your avatar pic foghead, you had the best looking one of a Zodiac 2 on here I could find as there is no default on in the library.
