I scoured the internet looking for info on getting the SD256 wifi card to work on my T3. Everything was no go. The card worked on Zire71 and TE, but nothing else. All the info was old though, so I thought maybe with the release of palms wifi card, something new could be done..

I emailed both people ("where's the drivers, homes?") and got a response from both. However, the responses were in the usual unhelpful 'customer service' fashion.

Palm said: Its up to sandisk to support what they want.
Sandisk: We're not going to support it.

I would post the emails but why waste time.

The only shred of hope is someone getting the palmone drivers to work with the sandisk. I tried to install them, but you cant do it without the card.

I spotted in one of the other threads the the Sandisk WiFi card without the memory will work with the Tungsten. It's in one of the threads somewhere hereabout (and I'm hoping it is true with the T2, since I have one of these on order, the Sandisk card that is).

BTW, I don't know if the Zodiac drivers work with the standard Palm's, but they have released a driver that supports the Wifi+256 card on the Zodiac. That's available here (look right at the bottom to find the link to the Beta drivers):

Might be worth a try...?

I heard it sucks,...power. It is supposed to suck alot more power than the palm WiFi card, which is why only a few people have attempted to make drivers for it.

Well, I once heard of a driver-here is a link to the TamsPalm feature:

Users reported that TE and some TT handhelds work with the driver...

Thanks for the replies.
I'll try the zodiac beta drivers for the 256/wifi, but im not hopefull, so i'll post before trying them..

Tam, if you look at the comments on your blog, i put the last ones up, info you might be interested in.

Basically, the card doesn't work with the T3... From what i gathered and tried to sift through, the tungstens vary to the point where the drivers need to be specific. Not simply needing to run the same OS, such as WinCE. Supposedly the TE is similiar to the Z71... but the 72 isnt? Go figure.

But comon! the wifi/256 would be PERFECT for the t3.... Would totally complete it.. I need to go online to download stuff on the go, i need that space, and ramdisk solutions arent enough for me.

Not much hope though. Maybe i'll get the nonwireless low end dell X30 and throw the wifi/256 in it and get a large mem card for mp3s or something. Man, i have a wifi256 card just taking up space, im almost about to buy another pda just to put it in, im hecka looking for excuses ("honey, you need a pda, dont you?")

But arent the wifi drivers similiar? That is, the palmone wifi drivers should have needed info for the sandisk. I wouldnt bet all the info, but... well i dont know what could be done, but i would definately pay someone if they did it, heh.

I actually tried the zodiac stuff, the beta release drivers for the 256wifi. It looked real promising when it actually installed the files. However, upon trying to scan for networks, no go.

Its pretty funny how the nonmemory wifi drivers for the zodiac work with both the sandisk and the palmwifi

Now that is interesting...

So it didn't complain the card wasn't there? I'm still waiting for my Sandisk card (non-memory) but I'll have a play when they turn up. When I tried the Zodiac stuff it complained the card wasn't there (which is fair enough) but asked for it to be installed in Slot 2. Maybe if you install the original Sandisk drivers first (so you have the Sandisk Palm App) then install the Zod drivers, but then use the original App to scan for networks....?

So far as I can tell the drivers and application themselves seem to be seperate, hence my thoery for trying the original app with the new drivers.

Of course, it may be that it can't find your network due to your T5's Network settings, I saw a good guide on how to set things up in this forum here:

Maybe it'll work, maybe not :)

Im on a T3, and yah the zodiac 256/wifi drivers installed fine.
The zodiac files autodelete the old sandisk drivers.
Doubt it matters anyway, neither drivers seem to allow scan abilities. The zodiac wifi finder utilitiy has the same prob. So no go. Someone hasta start manipulating the files or something. Blarg,i have the worlds most expensive 256 meg mem card... at least that works
