I have just started on the pda ladder and want a clie, i dont know whether the t-675c or the SJ-33 is better any help, i want the cover but i heard the speaker is better on the 675, the t675 also has Enhanced ir which could be useful but i need th cover because of the likely hood of screen damage
thanx

-K-, I would definately go with the T675, it has a nice metal body, enhanced ir, vibrating alarm (which can be useful), and I think it looks more like a pda than a toy like the sj33. However, it is wierd that the 675 is more expensive than the sj33, but even though it is more, I would still go with the T675.

My vote: SJ33.

-Better battery life (very important)
-Better ergonomics... the T675 buttons are poorly designed IMHO.

BTW, both the SJ33 and the T665/T675 have the same enhanced speaker. You can't use it for MP3's, but who cares when you have stereo earbuds. The earlier SJ's have a horrible speaker, so this might cause some confusion.

The only real advantage the T675 gives you is the enhanced IR, which turns your Clie into a universal remote control. While that sounds cool, it's not very practical. (It doesn't make a very good remote when it is sitting in the charger. :p )

If you really need a universal remote, Sony makes some reasonably priced learning remotes, with real buttons, and battery life measured in years.

Yes i dont EIR is gonna be that useful however i will be useing to imput data alot so was gonna get a compact (not folding) keboard and the camera will be useful. I add the price of these things including vat=
£233+£116+37= £386
Then saw the NR70 for £381 and it has a much better camera and can use VIVID to take videos not to metion larger screen and included keboard, is this a much better deal since i heard the MS Camera seem to be crap.

Question marks help here.
If you are planning on getting the NR70v over the SJ33 then you are making a good choice. Ive never had one, but Ive played with a few and they are pretty cool. OS5 is nice too. And the big screen and camera is great.

Does any one know about this CF compatibilty card for the NR70 looks good but can only support modems at the moment

Jake K
03-23-2003, 12:55 PM
Hold up everyone...

The NR70 isn't os 5 nor does it have a cf slot.

I think your talking about the NX70.

Danl123uk
03-23-2003, 12:55 PM
I didnt think it had OS 5 thats the NX and NZ and TG50

Danl123uk
03-23-2003, 12:56 PM

Danl123uk
03-23-2003, 12:57 PM

Danl123uk
03-23-2003, 12:58 PM
and is the vivid video capture software good?

Jake K
03-23-2003, 12:58 PM
Yup

Jake K
03-23-2003, 12:58 PM
Well, yes to your question about the 66 mhz. I don't know about the software.

Danl123uk
03-23-2003, 12:59 PM
so the NR70v is better than the rest put together (SJ33 + MS camera + compact keboard)

Danl123uk
03-23-2003, 01:00 PM
is it worth £381 or should i wait till the NX70 gos down in price

Jake K
03-23-2003, 01:00 PM
That all depends on your tastes. The NR70v has a lot of features, but its larger then the SJ33. The SJ33 has a better battery life too.

Jake K

I'm sure you will be happy with the NR70v, as long as you know that it won't be compatible with the MS pro sticks.

I hear there are a lot of problems with Lexar memory sticks. Many just stop working or have flaws.

Is it really that much of a problem? Maybe he didn't know what to ask all at once and maybe I didn't want to answer all at once either.

I'm planning to get another Clie and I'm looking for the NR70(without camera). Are there any problems with the NR's ?
Especially, the hinges ?

Danl123uk
03-24-2003, 02:35 PM
I dont think so they seem stiff, also the camera is a bit improvement for £50 or $80

Danl123uk
03-24-2003, 02:37 PM
Seems the low battery life and the low res is a turn off for PPC owners and the lack of ability to close apps with the X so memory is wasted.

There is a potential problem with the memory stick slot not detecting a memory stick. Not on all units, but some. There is a fix, but it involves taking the unit apart.

Hey Danl123uk,

Where did you find a SJ33 for 195 quid ! In the high street or online? Care to share the info...? I'm in Italy and trying to find someone to ship a blue SJ33 here from within the EU...
