Treo 650 Canadian release?

I am dying to get my hands on this PDA, anyone know when it's being released in Canada and what companies will provide service?

I you have Fido for a service provider, you can use you SIM card and use the GSM unlocked Treo 650...I am and really enjoy the features.

I was at a Rogers retailer in Ottawa on Thursday and questioned them on when the Treo 650 would be avaiable in Canada. Their answer, 3rd quarter. I am starting to get rather upset with the all the carriers in Canada. I say 11 months is way to much time to continue pushing the 600 on us. I demand satisfaction.

The way to get satisfaction, go around the Telco's...buy direct from Palm and put your own SIM card. The phone will cost more, but you will get at least 11 months of enjoyment and bragging right for the Treo 650!!!

Roger has now taken over Fido...bigger coverage and cheaper price.

According to PalmOne.com/us the Treo 650 is NOT compatible with Rogers Wireless. :( Check out http://web.palmone.com/products/communicators/config/no_carrier_matches.jhtml?_requestid=207432 for more info! I'd triple check with Rogers if you want to try this. I'm going to wait. $700 US :eek: is too much to pay for the few small (albeit significant) improvements.

That's it ! It is now (almost) official!

The treo 650 will be available in canada starting March 14th 2005, with Rogers. The price will be 800 no contract, and 550 with 3 year contract...

Just checked my email and got the news from Rogers (see msg below). Looks like I'll be sending my 600 back for an upgrade :-D
