Is it just my TH55 or is AvantGo really slow? Whatever answer, is there a better(faster) news program? All I want is comprehensive news and a weather forecast. I subscribe to like 10 news channels on AvantGo because each one only seems to give me like 3 or 4 headlines, and Accuweather is always having error messages.

I tried to install an OS 4.0 version (B&W) hoping it would run faster, but I can't even open it up once installed.

With the TH55's (comparatively) slower process speed... I often wonder if some programs suck, or if they were written for a faster PDA. no reason a news reader should be so slow, tho.

It's our beloved TH55's that unfortunately are pretty slow, as modern PDA's go. AvantGo is relatively slow on my TH. It's not really all that bad IMO. I had a NX80V before, and man..AvantGo was BLAZING on that machine.

As far as FREE news programs go (I know others here are equally devoted to other programs) it is the best, in my opinion. For ease of use (basically it's 'fire & forget'), the fact it's FREE, width and breadth of channel selection (also has a very easy way to add your custom channels) make it the clear choice AFAIC. The latest version of AvantGo (5.7 Build 35) is a winner in my book.

If you increase the channel size, and/or the link depth of the channels that you say only give you 3 or 4 headlines, that might make things better.

Let me know. :)

BTW, the version for OS 4 will only work on...OS4! Shocker huh? LOL

It really should not run slow at all. If I can run fast games, why not a simple text feed viewer.

I'm having a pretty slow time with AVantgo to, I've turned of the animations option in the preferences, which probably only helps in some pages. But, probably wont do much on the speed. I was thinking of putting an older version to, but have yet to do so. I do notice its slower than on my N760. It was very fast reacting on that clie. I'm still searching around for possible solutions and will post if I ever come across one.
