The power button on the top of my SJ30 (next to the MS slot) is stuck in the down position and I can't get it up. It's not a big deal, as I can still turn the unit on with the date book button or the back button and can still turn it off with the back button.

However, it would be nice to have the button back working again, as that was the button I almost always used to turn it on.

Any suggestions?

I've seen this mentioned before in another discussion and I've seen more than a few SJ-series demo units with broken power buttons. I would guess that this is a design and/or manufacturing flaw. I'd try to get an exchange with the retailer or Sony if I were you.

Good luck...

I'm sorry you've had this problem gusmahler, but am relieved that my searches have finally shown that I'm not alone with it. As I realise you posted this some time ago, I wonder how it was resolved for you? I plan to contact Sony when their phone line is open again on Monday morning.

Hope you had some luck with them.

Hit it with several sharp even blows of a 5lb sledge. Make sure to be careful, the screen is very fragile.

Sorry to hear about the Power Button. And I want to thank you for mentioning the use of the Back Button to turn the unit on an off. I overlooked that for some reason and plan not to use the Power button to power the machine on and off to avoid running into this problem.
