It's here people...the greatest driving simulator series is back, and soooo much better than the last installment. Anyone who is a fan of racing and enjoys the GT series will not be dissapointed. Over 700 cars, new 'b-spec' mode for a crew chief style of play and strategy, enhanced and new courses (Can you say Nurburgring?), awesome physics and realism, And a new driving wheel from logitech? PURE SEX. I picked up my copy this morning, and it is great. This thread is for anything and everything about Gran Turismo 4.
GO.
I remember buying the PS2 primarily because of Gran Turismo. I guess I'll pass on this one and miss all the fun... and get ready to get the version for PS3 in the near future. (Or get GT 4 Mobile for the PSP).
Have fun, Homie S!

I hate to say it, but you ARE missing out. But I see where you're commin from, when I go for a PSP for my birthday this summer, GT4 mobile will be on that list as well.
Here is my baby, in the new photo mode (which is pretty awesome, I can take pictures in certain spots or while on the track, and just use my USB flashdrive to put them on my PC.

I just played this game for the first time ever. Never played any previouse version. I want damage and carnage, the cars just bounce. But other then that, the game is very well polished and about a billion times better then the *vomit* that is Project Gotham. :)
I really liked using both analogue sticks to steer, accelerate and break. The interface was also well thought out.
My friend drives the Suburu in the game and real life.

my first gt game, so i just found out i don't really like it that much(too difficult for me,hahah)
it's lucky that i didn't go all crazy and buy the wheel and cockpit immediately
Isn't there a setting to increase car damage?

It be what "our" friends have. I'm personally a Mario Kart guy. :D But GT kind of has that Ridge Racer feel that I liked when I was younger.

It's difficult because it's the *real* driving simulator. Trust me, I've autocrossed a few times as well as help my dad prep his race car, this game get's pretty damn close to real.
Which is why it's not easy :)
EDIT: One thing I am bummed about is lack of car damage. I see why they didn't put it in; It would seem to me a pretty daunting task of trying to create realistic damage and keep the cars and all that stuff look superb on the screen. Unfortunantely, that's about the only thing I can think of that this simulator doesn't touch on. Then again, if you're a world class driver and you're in 24 hours of Nurburgring, you're going to know your ****. Who knows though. I'd say look for damage when the PS3 comes out.

That horrid channel G4Tech-vomit showed an Icon about GT and they said that the reason the cars had no damage, is because the various car manufactures will not allow it. They want their cars to look pristine at all times.

Damage or no damage, I fell for it. I'm getting one of those slim PS2 and Gran Turismo 4. Two sites that I've discovered:

I hate you Homie S!!! LOL.

That's just silly. Although, most car makers WANT their cars in this game. Heck, in a press release by PD they said that TVR was letting them use their cars for free, because they found that after the release of the previous Gran Turismo they saw a sales increase. Same can't be said about Porsche, Ferrari and Lambo though.
PD (polyphony digital) decided that they weren't going to pay the huge fees to liscense cars from Porsche, Ferrari, or Lambo. Rumors had it that Ferrari was asking up to 10 mil for their liscense, and PD told them to go chase themselves. I think that same official press release regarding the matter said that PD was more interested in using the money to make the game better rather than have more cars.
And Joel, I have a PS2 slim as well as GT4. It's size is awesome, it's so tiny. I love it. AND YOU WILL TOO!!!!

oh, and if you think the game looks good on a normal screen, I can't wait to use it in HIGH DEFINITION. That's right, it supports 1080i. I'm almost counting down the days till Spring Break and go home to try it out on our HDTV.

I"ve heard of this. I don't know any details, but it's supposed to be a real contender. Who knows though, Gran Turismo is the most reputable name when it comes to realistic car racing.

Homie,
Will any flash drive work for this? I have PNY 256MB.

I think any USB drive will work. I use my old Lexar Media Jumpdrive 256MB.

Yes, any USB flashdrive should work.
Yea, that Subaru I pictured earlier now does a 9.3 at the Vegas strip. AND THAT'S WHY WE CALL IT A VIDEO GAME FOLKS.
In other news, my iPod was stolen out of my dorm room.
I already have a PS2 and Gran Turismo 4 (at last!). The "problem" is, I'm neck deep in work. I stared at the PS2 for a few seconds... I guess I'm out of touch in console gaming because I didn't expect the PS2 to be this small and compact! It makes my Mac mini look bulky :)
Speaking of Apple stuff, Homie S, what happened to your your iPod?!?
JackAxe

That bites. I hope you can get the iPod back.
Consoles small, but you have a PSP, doesn't it make your PS2 slim look bulky? :)
<]=)
LOL. But then beside the PSP, the Mac mini looks colossal. ;)

Colossal is the original GB, I'm not sure how I fit that in my pocket. :)

I went to the floor lounge to talk to my boo on the phone, left the deadbolt on to my door so it is near shut, I talk for 20 minutes, iPod is not on my altec lansing speakers. What I'm puzzled about is that they didn't take my laptop, my speakers, or anything else of value (even my expensive Benchmade knife sitting there). I guess they were after the iPod. Two weeks ago someone got their mini stolen from their room, and they live on the same floors as I do. Now we're all super stingy about our doors being locked when we're out of the room. Lesson learned I suppose.
Serial numbers are pretty much traceable for the the iPod and Mac mini (or for other Apple products). I suggest giving a heads-up to your local Apple Store to let them know of the stolen items.

I hope you get it back. It sounds like it's probably the same bastard that stole both items.

If he didn't get the cables, he'll be needing them soon. Probably a heads-up to the stores around the area would help too.
