Say JAm,
I was lookin at some of those nifty pics u posted on the UX50 vs Zodiac thread. Very nice, so that's what the UX40 looked like before it's demise. So what exactly happened? Saw some thread about makeshift external batteries where you said you did some damage to it, but that it could be repaired. Then what happened. Perhaps I missed a thread in the saga.
Anyhow, on the pics I noticed a lotta screen shots, some with cool anime pics, and others with japanese text both on screen and in the drop down menus. I may be crossing into a gray area here and I don't mean to be ethnically insensitive, but could it be that JAmerican is short for Japanese American? Or American Japanese, or whatever you prefer. Point being that you can speak, read and write in Japanese. If so, is it possible that you have some of the great apps by H. Imazeki (CodeDiver, WPDiver, KeyQuick) and actually know how to use them at least somewhat proficiently? My assumption is that the Japanese readme files would be much easier to understand (4 u that is) since the programmer is himself Japanese. The english readme.txt are very cryptic and I don't feel that I'm optimally using the software. My apologies in advance if I in any way insulted you.
Naruto rocks, unfortunately the license was just picked up by cartoon network I think, so no more downloads from fansub sites:(
I have yet to see the movie, that'd be awesome.

Hey mileu,
My handheld's charging circuit blew I think. I can't charge my device anymore due to something stupid I did. My device still works just has a low battery.
As for my name, it means Jamaican American. I capitalized the JA becase they are the abbreviation for Jamaica and American has a capital A so it works out. No offense done :D. No one has asked me that before. LOL. Sorry can't help you with those translations.

Mileu :
- for Codediver, there is a thread explaining in english how to use it on 1src. (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27891&highlight=codediver)
- your name looks french, can you read it ?
Imazeki doesn't speak english, the readme has been translated with an automatic translating machine.Thank you for mail.
I understand English only a little.
This mail is writing by using translation software.
Therefore, I want it forgiven even when there is an expression
which isn't right.
Thank you for good evaluation.
Since the translation software which I use does not support French, it cannot
perform a detailed exchange. I regret. However, I appreciate for the review by the forum.

If you notice at the bottom of JAmerican's post of the pictures, he put big bold letters saying that arang is the photographer.
Also, I didn't see any Japanese... only Korean on the screenshots.
This two pictures are both Korean, not Japanese if they were what you were referring to:
http://img137.exs.cx/img137/1213/img56796jj.jpg
http://img215.exs.cx/img215/131/img56616uj.jpg
again, photo credits to arang!
Oh and yah, it's a shame for all you Naruto people :(. I'm almost glad I never followed it now, as there were some 100 episodes, right?

hey all,
I'm a bit befuddled, but I now see. Jamaican American, actually that's what I had thought intially till I saw the thread with the pics. rcxASH, I did note that they were taken by arang, however they are pictures of JAm's UX40 no? So I guess JAm can read Korean (didn't actually look that closely, but you are correct that the text is not Japanese, I got excited cuz of his user name and jumped to the Japanese conclusion, not to mention the anime wallpaper and the action figure). Anyhow, I leaned my lesson, I won't jump to conclusions anymore (like geez, rcxASH you have an anime like pic by your username, and you can recognize Korean from Japanese, any chance you might speak Japanese :)
I'll check out that CodeDiver link, so nothing for the KeyQuick? That's the one that I feel is the most difficult to understand what all the settings are, though on second though CodeDiver is not that straightforward either.
And yeah, Naruto was up to almost 140's or so. I have them all archived somewhere. Excellent series.
Oh, and Antoinepierre (that definately sounds french), I'm actually not French, though I was in Paris just last year. My english is marginal at best. But I think I can somehow get through the CodeDiver link if it was truly written by an English speaking person and not a computer.

No Arang has a UX40 and UX50. He took the pictures of his own devices. This is why they have Korean on it. I can only speak English fluently.

No worries :) I hope I didn't come across as offensive (Please forgive me if I did) I was in a rush to post this morning and didn't get much time to review what I wrote. Your assumptions were very understandable.
Regarding me, yes, I have an anime related picture for my avatar. It's actually from an American guy though (lol, go figure haha). From MegaTokyo.com. I am not Japanese, nor am I Korean. I am, however, Chinese. Currently trying to learn Mandarin, but not speaking or reading it much yet.
I can usually tell when things are Japanese because of all the anime I watched (fansubs), and can usually tell when things are Korean because there are a large number of Korean people in my school. I can usually tell when things are Chinese because I am learning Chinese. :D
Unfortunately, I cannot speak any useful amount of Japanese :(. I only know a few things here and there from watching fansubbed anime. I know absolutely no Korean. Except for a couple small useless things that I hear thrown around school sometimes ;). And even then, I don't think I know the correct pronounciation.
I've actually had a teacher once say something to me in Korean that he learned from some of the Korean students. (He assumed I was Korean) Of course, I had no clue what he said and just stared at him blankly trying to figure out what I had just heard. Lol. That was funny. :p
Now, as for your original questions... KeyQuick. Personally, I have no experience. However, it was a big thing with the TG50 users I believe. I usually don't like to just say, "go search," but I really don't have any bookmarked threads right now... all I can say is that there may be some useful info buried in back the TG50 forums somewhere. Also, if you find some of the active members who used to own TG50s, they may be able to provide you with more help. (Yes, I was previously a TG50 owner, but I never used KeyQuick). I just remember how nearly all of the other TG50 users praised KeyQuick all the time :p So yah.. maybe see if you can't find anything useful in the TG50 forums... or PM one of the past TG50 users. I know a few of the TG50 power-users are now using UXs or THs... so they should still be around I think.
Anyways, good luck with it! :)
edit
Oh, some random thoughts about distinguishing between the CJK languages... this is what I personally notice:
Korean text has uses more circles as part of their characters. You don't see many full circles in Japanese or Chinese I believe.
Japanese and Chinese are probably more difficult to tell apart, as one of the Japanese alphabets uses Chinese characters. When looking for the difference between Japanese and Chinese, I look for the Hiragana characters. These are simpler than Chinese characters, and to me personally, look "rounder."
Chinese characters are often more complex when I see them compared to Hiragana. If I see no Hiragana, I assume that it's Chinese. I don't know enough Chinese characters yet to be able to read a lot of common things yet, however. :(
Anyways. 我喜爱我的CLIE!
Ok. That ends the off-topic part of this post.

Funny,
I'm Chinese too, well American Chinese that is, or twinkeed as others prefer. I too speak little of the forgotten language. Kudos to you for choosing to learn it now.
It's funny reading your description on how you tell language text apart, it sounds exactly like what I do. Ah, the benefits of being white washed.

What is the basic meaning of "twinkeed" ? Is there a connection with the eyes ? (twinkle)
No special french nickname for asian people. :( . Many people say "chinese" for all the asian people.

I think I may try out KeyQuick this weekend if I have some time too. I know a little bit of French... but probably not as much as you know English antoinepierre. lol..
off topic post follows...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but does "twinkeed" carry the same connotation as "banana?"
Yellow on the outside, white on the inside.
Twinkees are yellowish on the outside, but inside, they're full of white cream. At least, this is how I interpreted it initially.

Hi! I'm a Taiwanese that can read Japanese kana(read it out and it may be pronounced like an english word) and the Chinese charecters(the meaning of the charecters are sometimes the same as in Chinese). I've played around with most of the functions of KeyQuick(well, to guess the meaning of the ones I don't understand), and I'll give you a little help. However, KeyQuick is very sophisticated, and it may take hours to translate it all, so I'll cover as much as I have time(and I still don't know half of it), and maybe someone else could cover the rest.
I, in fact, installed the Japanese version, cause I can't understand the English ver.
I know my post isn't very good, but it's a start, I wish other people can pitch in and finish this together :)
-------------------------------------------------
First, with the drop down menu: (in desending order)
-interface settings >see(1)
-system settings >see(2)
-tempararily turn off KeyQuick functions >set KeyQuick to shut down it's functions when a program in the list is running(KeyQuick will comeback on when you exit the program) You put memory hungry app in the list to prevent lags or crashs
..........................
-DA function settings(You can set any application or system function to a DA, but you have to install the included DAs first, then asign them functions)
...........................
-color settings >see(3)
-indicator settings(I've never figured out this one)
...........................
-about KeyQuick
(1)interface settings
-PageUp/Down scroll(never figured out this one)
-NetFront longitudinal scrolling(allows you to scroll sideways, if you have a keyboard with left and right arrow buttons)
-Jog Dial dialoge "OK"?(never figured out this one)
-built in keyboard
--combanation mode(I guess this lets you press combination buttons like "shift"+"something" one at a time so you can do it with only one hand)
--Turn off App changing(never figured out this one)
--Turn off other combanations(never used this one)
--status bar mode displays(never figured out this one)
-KB100+ Clie Organizer(I don't use a TH55, so...)
(2)system settings(because KeyQuick eats memory when running, these setting are to prevent memory hungry apps to crash)
-Turn off functions when a ARM native app is running
-convert tap location calculations to Ver 1.0(Don't know)
-Turn off functions when Picsel (very memory hungry) is running
- system background running prioraties(I guess PalmOS can set memory allocation prioraties to applications?)
(3)color settings
-clock(is there a hidden clock somewhere?)
-launcher(well, if you asign someway to launch it, there is a launcher, like you can launch the launcher from a DA mentioned above)
-control tap(the selection indicator when you use Jog dial to select on screen buttons, a function that lets you minimise the need for a stylus)
-side menu(the vertical menu that you fire up with the button you assigned, used like a start menu in Windows)

here is the main control view (of course, the rights of the software design belong to Imazeki san)
I use the sidemenu most, so I'll explain that.
http://homepage.ntu.edu.tw/%7Eb92b01024/kq-sidemenu.jpg
You can choose to launch the side menu by :
-non
-hold jog (hold for a few sec.)
-hold back (hold for a few sec.)
-capture
-hold capture (hold for a few sec.)
-voicerec
-hold voicerec (hold for a few sec.)
By the way, I'm not sure if it's ok to edit these captured pictures, I'll take it down if it's not legal.

AppShelf is very great for any PDA with a thumbboard.
The main reason is because it allows you to use the thumbboard to launch and do anything...
Use your arrow keys to navigate the icons. Up, down, left, right. Not just cycling through a list like with a jog-dial.
Launch an application by typing enough letters unique to it's name and either hold down the last letter, or hit enter. For example, to launch Memo Pad:
Type 'M' and immediatly, McFile is highlighted...
Type 'E' next and Media Launcher is highlighted...
Type 'M' next and Memo Pad is highlighted...
Either press and hold 'O' or press Enter, and memo pad is launched!
Also, you can change categories all via the thumb board..
Two ways i know of:
1. Deselect anything (by pressing either back space or the back button if you do have something highlighted) then use the left and right arrow keys to cycle categories.
2. Deselect anything, and then press either back or back space again. Use either the arrow keys or your jog dial to select the category you want. You can use the same methods as launching applications.
Also, like most other launchers, you can define a tool bar with commonly used application icons on them. Press the 'tab' button, and focus automatically goes to this "minipad" Either continually press tab to select the application you want, or use the arrow keys. Press enter.
There are some other really neat stuff such as:
Define a category for HTML pages that open in NetFront automatically.
Define a category for JPG images that open with McJPEG automatically (eg, define your /DCIM/MS101MSDCF directory and you can open your camera shots without having to go into Media Launcher or Clie Viewer).
Define a category for plain text files that open with McText automatically.
Some other supported applications as well!
Also, appshelf can display your ToDo list and DateBook. Gives you quick "at a glance" information.
Also, it's a very simple and refined look. Perhaps not the greatest choice if you want to get a lot of themes for it... more themes out there for ZLauncher. There are some skins for AppShelf, but really, I think there are more for ZLauncher.
Oh, and as a nifty feature, AppShelf can play wav files for sound effects for events such as turning on or off your device, beaming something, deleting something, etc.
Maybe just try it out, and see what you think.
The main reason why I like it is because of the super comprehensive thumb board support. I can launch applications without using my stylus.
Very great. Eg, I can start listening to MP3s without taking out my stylus... use the back button to get back to AppShelf (if I'm somewhere else), type "ME" and hit enter. Press the Jog-dial and start listening. Stylus never moved an inch.

I don't know. I've tried it but I think I've used ZLauncher too much. I think the main reason I use ZLauncher is for the theme. I also have setup my hardware buttons as NetFront 3.1, Media Launcher, and Documents. Three essential apps that I use the most. I've also setup tabs for games, internet, organization, media and so on in ZLauncher. The one thing I also like about ZLauncher is that it has the tap and hold option. That displays a popup. This is essential in that it allows you access to options for certain files. It also makes it easier to create shortcuts or move files from RAM. Thanks for the info rcxAsh, but I think I'll stick with the Z. ;) :D

-clock (is there a hidden clock somewhere?)Yes, there is a clock. :D
- how to do it:
· Do you want to have this clock, holding « Tab » ? (You can choose something else )
· Go to : KeyQuick/extent, click on « Tab » then edit -> you arrive on KeyPref, Click on Comb :Singl, Assign :Function, KeyQuickExt,
clock -> click « OK ».
· Now, you can have a clock everywhere.
- It is possible to change the color of this bar in : "menu/function color".
- It is sometimes necessary to Soft reset your UX after you have created a new shortcut.

Hmm, does anyone here notice whether or not enabling KeyQuick causes the thumb board typing to become more unresponsive?
It's actually quite bad for me... I tried typing this in Memo Pad as fast as I could:
"This is a test to see whether or not typing speed has been affected"
A lot of the keys were missed and resulted with:
"This is atest te whth not hing spedheen aed"
I looked at the thumb board when i typed this, so I'm quite sure that I didn't miss all those keys by myself.
On another note, I found this today:
Pull down the menu, and select "UI Settings"
Tap the "Setting" box beside "Built-in keyboard"
Turn "Pop-up indicator" on.
Now when you press shift, ctrl or fn (blue key), a small pop-up will be flashed on screen letting you know.
Eg, Press shift... "Shift" will flash on screen. Press shift again... "Shift lock" will flash on screen. Pres shift a third time... "Release" will be displayed on screen.
Each of shift, blue and ctrl all have their own colour too. So you can easily tell if you accidentally hit the wrong key when typing.
Edit
I should also mention that I did set the system priority to '2' when I tested that. Setting it to '0' and repeating the test yielded even worse results:
"Th is st t ethe ng sped has bfted"
Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?I have had the same problems.
First, you must know that KeyQuick is not very stable at the beginning of its use.
When you begin to use KQ, you create and delete often shortcuts this way of doing seems to make KQ unstable. If you soft reset after each shortcut creation KQ is more stable.
There are some solutions :
- try to soft reset your device.
- if you use the key which has a bad response for a shortcut try to use "Priority is control out of the field". Or create a new shortcut. :(
I don't know why but it's what I have seen on my UX !

More about KeyQuick: How to use a DA without your stylus or your fingernail.
First, if you use DAlauncher5.0, Ctrl+double click "T" opens the list of your DA.
You can navigate thru this list with the jogdial or PgUp/PgOn.
Choose your DA by pushing the jog or clicking "enter".
You can navigate IN the DA with "Ctrl"+"Tab" which gives you a pink cursor which can moves with the jog or the arrows left/right.
How to leave a DA ? You have to find : "trial of DA stop".
Example : I want to leave a DA using "ctrl"+ i.
- KeyQuick/extent-> click on "Add" -> you see a rectangle :"please push...tap)." -> click on "i".
- "KeyPref" appears with TgtKey : i, click on "Ctrl", click assign: "Function", click on : "Trial of DA stop"
- click on the little square in front of : "Priority is Ctrl out of the field".
- click : OK. -> Ctrl+i will close the opened DA.
It doesn't works with all DA :( . Misosiru refuses to obey !

I've just found a cursor in KeyQuick !! How does it work ??
The cursor is in keyquick extent, click "Edit" -> new panel "KeyPref".
Assign : screen tap, click on "coordinates" and after : "Cursor" apears :)
I've tried to create a shortcut as usual but whithout result this time(I tried Fn+G). Any idea ?
P.S.: If you want another cursor you can use
- "cursorDA", funny to use.
- PtoolPointer, part of Ptoolset, didn't test it.
