So now people don't have an excuse to buy the 1gig shuffle.

Argh! And I just bought my wife a mini for Christmas. Well that's the way the tech ball bounces. ;)

I have an iPod, but i'm still going to buy a Shuffle. It's size makes it very appealing to me. :)

Besides the size, what else makes it appealing to you? Have you checked out the alternatives?

They have more features too. All three of the Samsung models are 1GB and the Sandisk comes in a 1GB model too. The downside is that they are all a little bit more expensive ($20 - $30 more) than the Shuffle.

I prefer having an screen to see the song names and all that stuff... so no shuffle for me.

I see a negligent difference in size when it comes to mini vs. shuffle. You can say that the mini is relatively much bigger than the shuffle, but when it comes down to it, it's still pretty small. Not to mention a screen. And a 1gig shuffle for 149$? Get real. One might as well put out 50 more bucks and get a 4gig mini.

I agree, for $50 more just get the Mini. Maybe that was Apple's intentions, to try and push peeps towards it. I think $125 would be a better price for the 1 Gig Shuffle.

I like Samsung products, but for the price I would go with a Mini and that's not going to happen since I have an iPod. Plus a Shuffle would work with my iTunes playlists. :)

iTunes is the major sticking point for iPods. Nothing else out there, free or not, can even touch it in terms of convenience, ease of use, and versatility.

My posts must read like Apple adverts..

That's fine. When something is done well, it deserves praise. :)

Do the minis skip when jogging/exercising? I'm asking because I believe they have HDDs instead of flash drives...

EDIT: I just read it has skip protection...but what if you are jogging for more than 25 minutes? How does skip protection work?

It's flash memory, so no skip.

The iPod starts to refill the buffer starting at about 3/4 of the way done with the current buffer in order to try to get a spot with ample nonmovement. The hard drives themselves are built to work at up to about 500G.

I once had 500 G, but I lost it on a bet. :o
