Why isn't any fixes/patch for the voice problem on the Treo 650's?
The volume level is way too low on the gsm version, that is on both the earpiece and speakerphone. There are ton's of complaint on both treocentral.com and howardforums.com.
Hopefully someone from P1 reads this forums and can report back to P1 about the problems.

This seems to be a trend in many GSM smartphones made in the past year :( The Moto MPx220, Audiovox SMT 5600, Nokia 7610 and others have relatively low earpiece volume compared to phones sold a few years ago. Perhaps they think everyone will use a wired headset or be forced to buy a BT headset?

I wish Kevin Michaels from P1 would give his comments on that.
Oh Kevin wheeeeeere are youuuuu?

Why Ardy, I'm right here :)
Sorry, wish I could be of more help, but I'm just not in that loop. All I know is that palmOne is working diligently to address specific issues as we speak. And I absolutely guarantee that they are aware of issues raised in forums.
I find pdagal's observation about phone volumes very interesting, though I'm not sure about the BT headset angle :)

Thanks for your reply Kevin, I really appreciate it.
Now that I have a piece of mind that P1 is working on th issue. On the 23rd of this month as soon as my contract is up with Nextel I'm jumping ship to Cingular just so that I can have my hands on a Unlocked/unbranded Treo 650. :)

I have long noticed this problem (except of course with Nextel which are TOO loud!) with many handhelds.

I believe that they engineer these units this way to save battery power so that the specs can quote longer battery life. I am sure the audio amp is a bit smaller and generates less heat also.

Boost volume by getting VolumeCare (http://www.gotreosoftware.com) or Phone Technician (http://www.hobbyistsoftware.com), both which offer volume boosting features.

Don't know if i'm alone on this but i'm not too impressed by the sound quality when playing mp3 on my treo. It's noise level is pretty high. Is it normal for quality to be so average? If that's the case then increasing the volume will only make the noise level higher.
