Hi I plan to use my NX70 primarily in tablet mode w/o keyboard showing which case would allow me to do that? It seems innopocket and Pdair(maybe) have that ability. I would appreciate any feedback.

Another question is does one really need a case for the NX?

you don't need a case for it, but it is nice to know that it is protected.

people break them by dropping them. A good case will help prevent this disaster.

It also keeps the case free of scratches.

Thanks for the answer to the 2nd question, now getting back to the first question is there a case which would allow me to keep it in tablet form without velcro for no more than $35.00?

yeah, i'm looking for one too. it's surprising sony hasn't released a good one of their own (what's with the vented fabric and velcro model?) since the case for the T-series was so nice.
Sony has three or four cases available here in Japan. I don't know why they don't sell them elsewhere.

The Bellagio flip case allows you to stay in Tablet mode.

It also allows charging in the case and CF access. It is a little bulky, however. I have one and like it very much, but I know that some folks have not been happy due to the bulk (also, when you first get one it is *hard* to get the Clie in and out. But the leather loosens up over time)

I was looking at the Bellagio website and it shows the nx being held by the keyboard. How would the case hold it in tablet form if it's held by the keyboard? Thanks

I'm not sure I follow. The case allows you to turn the screen around into tablet mode and collapse it down. The pieces that are holding it (across the keyboard) are still there, but they are flat so it still allows you to put it down into tablet mode. Thus, nothing is restricting your view of the screen. Does that make sense?

I guess I didn't explain it right. I want just the screen part no keyboard because that would be too big to carry around. So the keyboard would be tucked in behind the screen with just screen showing.

No, you explained fine. The Bellagio case would allow you to do that. With it flipped and then "flattened down" so it just looks like the tablet is there, so that the screen shows, but not the keyboard, the Bellagio case will still hold it.

Thanks profvisor for being so patient. I saw the pdair case on brando's website and it seems like a pretty nice case. Does anyone have it and can give some feedback on it? I would pick bellagio but it's more expensive and I've heard some of the cutouts aren't in the right area.

No problem, PalmOS67, I've been there! The choices when you first get an NX (or before) are so numerous, it is hard to wade through them.
I don't know a thing about the Brando case, but I'm sure someone else will reply.
As for the cutouts on the Bellagio case, apparently they were bad in previous runs but have gotten better. My first bellagio could not use the earphones because the case was not quite right. They replaced it with good speed even though it was past 30 days before I realized it. This one is better. I still had to "condition" the earphone area by getting them in right and leaving it there overnight. That sort of flattened out the leather some and made the earphone insertion go smoothly other times. I haven't had a problem with the reset hole or the speaker hole etc.
Good luck chosing a case! I had a Vaja for my visor and loved it. The cost was just too prohibitive for the Vaja Slipper for NX.

in general if you drop your clie in a case it can still receive damage..i think the bellagio would be the safest..but if you're like me then you only need to protect it from scratches...and then i would get a vaja or covertec...b/c their thinner...the bellagio has good protection..but very bulky

I love mine, it may not be as sexy as a vaja case, but it does the job just fine. I puchased two book style cases, one for my bro and I. I felt it would be most functional in that I need not remove the WiFi card all the time and the camera had an unobstructive view. It has a center padded divider with a large window. It also has slots for credit cards and two memory sticks. At first I thought the magnetic catch was a mistake, but after it got broken in, it works quite well now.
For my NR70, I had the Digital Express flip up from Brando and it has held up well too.
Both are nice cases, but only come in black. The PDAir case has both the speaker and reset holes.

Can anyone comment on the slipper Pdair cases? not the book style ones
I use the Innopocket when I want to leave my NX60 in tablet form. The metal protects the screen when it is closed.

I have to agree with Jag on the Innopocket Metal Case.
Been using mine now for just over 2 months and it working well. I use my NX in tablet mode all the time and the Metal Case is the only one that really protects the screen if you leave it in tablet mode.
Vaja I-volution would be good too.... but you have to rotate the screen everytime you open it.
I trust the innopocket far more than my vaja fliptop anytime. I tend to knock the corners a lot and the metal case is the only thing protecting my clie on a day to day basis.

I think this is what you are talking about.

This is for the NR but I did buy one for my NX. The unit slips into the case in tablet mode and stays that way. You just flip the cover to use. I love it and saves me from ever having to swivel the screen.

How is the quality of the krusell case? Are there any other cases similiar to it? I don't like the big krusell mark on the cover.

The quality seems pretty nice. I have used mine for about two months now and it goes through some rugged stuff.

I think he wanted a case for his nx70v with the keyboad part dettached from the screen part so he left the othe half at home and only carried the tablet mode with him away from home.

Wouldn't detaching the keyboard make the whole unit malfunction?

stevel is just trying to be a funny guy, the reason I have so many questions is I haven't gotten my NX yet so don't really know how it would fit in all the cases
