I've been thinking about buying a nx70 for awhile, but I did not have the resources to do so, until now :)
So, I was wondering if it is worth buying one? Since the technology is about 5 months old, should I just wait until a "newer" version comes out?

If you've decided on the NX70V and have the $$, get it now.
If you wait because something better might come along, well, something better is always just around the corner (especially in Sony's Clie lineup).
You have to decide which device will fit your needs, how much you're willing to spend, and the upgrade cycle that you're comfortable with.
My PDA upgrade cycle is 2 years. USR Pilot>>Palm IIIx>>NX70V.
Get it now and start enjoying it, then invest in quality software that is mentioned in these forums. You won't be disappointed.

I Say wait!! the technology is 5 months old. 2 new models like the nx70 are coming out nx80 and nx73.
The nx80 has a 1 megapixel camera. the nx73 same camera as the nx70. These models will be hitting late april or may (that is just my guess) It is rummored that this time sony will leave 16mg on the ram side.
YOu cannot loose. Here's why. If you get the new ones its a possibility that the OS will have some enhancement or the hardware will. If you still decide there is not much of a difference you can save some money on the nx70.
I myself will get an nx80 if there is enough enhancements. Possibly the CF card will work by then!
I change my devices at the most every 6 months. It depends on whats out there
MobilePro 780, Clie S300, Palm 505, T615, Sharp 5500, T665, NX60
Good luck. Its a tough out there!

I love my nx but sharp just came out with a new zaurus - 5600, i would check it out too.
First, you will never be able to keep up with the new products...
Second, figure out what you want.
Third, figure out whats available (or coming soon).
I bought my NX70 when it was first available, and in my mind it's still new, but you could "say" it's outdated..(with the NZ already here, and new NX's on the way). Point here being, NZ doesn't offer me anything that I want...and I have my doubts about rumored 1MP camera's added size to an NX80. Nothing could tempt me right now to change from an already excellent device.
If you wait and buy a <Insert fav PDA here>, you will have it for a couple months before something else is announced. Nature of the beast :)
If you decide on a feature set, don't hesitate.

Right, no such thing as an NX80 or NX73, they're just rumors!
This is not to say that new models won't becoming out, but Sony is usually pretty tight lipped about it.

If you can wait, I would recommend you wait.
1) A kick butt update model is released.
2) EVEN better prices on the NX
Either way you CAN'T LOSE.
I LUV my NX and it does not CEASE to amaze my friends...

Thanks for the replies :)
The only thing that is holding me back is the lack of an external keyboard support...I know that there is a Belkin beta driver that works, but I would like to see it supported by stowaways and I think I have read that they will release drivers for the nx at the end of april? So I guess I'll just wait till then, since I waited this long anyways :)

I say buy it now for cheap on ebay. Chances are because it's 5 months old, you'll find some great deals there.
As for myself, I usually upgrade my PDA once a year, and sell my old PDA on ebay for a little more than half the price I paid for it (sometimes if I'm lucky I might get 60% of the value).
Why do I mention this? If you use your PDA for business, you can write it off as a tax deduction. You don't have to report the income from selling it (well, maybe but I don't :)). Then when you purchase your new, upgraded PDA, another tax write-off. If you do the math, you'll realize you didn't really spend anything more than your original investment. My accountant agrees with this mentality and so do most businesses.
