hey, I was bored and I came across this website out of nowhere. On there I came across a picture of what I thought would be the most amazing PDA out there. Here it is:

If it only had a keyboard...

Apparently there's some dispute the company even exists, or ever did exist (wow, how existential)

I've been seeking a screwdriver to open the UX50 but have run into a brick wall. I purchased replacement batteries from laptopsforless; they sent some tools, none of which fit. After repeated techsupport calls, they said that some UX50s used an unusual screw. They recommended a couple of places where they thought I could find an appropriate screwdriver, but none panned out. I wound up returning the batteries.

I also consulted Brando, but they didn't have one that they knew worked with the UX50. The closest looks like:

http://shop.brando.com.hk/penno1screwdriver.php

Does anyone have a better option and/or can anyone verify that this works on the funky UX50 star-screw?

I've tried this:

and a whole mess of TORX screwdrivers.

Thanks for your help,
Craig

I use an eyeglass screwdriver. Cost me somewhere between $2~$6, bought it a long time ago. You can get it at CVS, A&P, or any other local stores. I use the flathead and place it between a diagonal of the star-strew and it easily unscrews. You should consider this.

I actually got a philips head to work, I just had to push fairly hard.

That can damage the screw. You should use a small flathead. That way, its using the inside of the screwhead to move the screw, not the top of it.
