Sony has a CF type II sled attachment that is compatible with the TG series and fits onto it. It offers an extra battery for more power, it has a charging port so you can charge and plug things into the bottom (like the keyboard), and most importantly it has the CF slot. Like the CF slot on the NX series it only supports network cards, but what if the sled could also use Compact Flash cards?

I've considered it. But i'd like to know if it would work with the sony wifi card.
I'm not so concerned with it being able to run a memory card since the tg50 already has bluetooth built-in.

If I could use a microdrive perhaps...

but MS's are so cheap now I don't think I would even buy a microdrive.

Because adding a CF slot would have made the TG50 about twice as thick.

Besides, from Sony's standpoint it isn't necessary. The TG50 has a Memory Stick slot, which handles memory (obviously) and Sony's isn't going to release drivers for CF memory cards. And the Wi-Fi Memory Stick (http://www.brighthand.com/article/Wi-Fi_MemoryStick_Coming_This_Summer) is coming this summer.

the Cf drivers are being worked on with right now(3rd party). If they aren't vaporware then this Cf sled would be great!!!

As I said, it doesn't make sense from Sony's standpoint. The big brass at Sony hates the idea of those CF memory card drivers. They want to you buy tons and tons of Memory Sticks.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were never another Clie model released with a CF slot. There definitely won't be one after the Wi-Fi Memory Stick is released.

Can you really say that there won't be another Clie model released with a cf slot until wifi is integrated into clies?  The pictures I saw of the wifi memory stick looked very ungainly and I would hate to have to use those monstrosities.  I am still living in a fairy tale land where there will be a boost in nx sales after the cf drivers are released causing sony to say "Hey we should put 2 functional memory slots in these things because people seem to want this"

anyone know if the cf sled will work with Sony's wifi card, as well as a pretec cf modem?

If they come up with a CF driver don't you think the Nx and NR sales might jump up? I like the idea of using CF just because I have a bunch siting around and they are cheap and more universal. I see your point about Sony not wanting to release drivers because this might hurt sales in memory sticks and also it would be like shooting themselves in the foot.
I am looking for a good Palm os machine with built in keyboard and os 5. I like the looks of the TG-50 but don't like memory stick aspect. I have heard the rumors of the new palm C or something like that but don't want to have to pay 500 bucks for a thumboard unit. I guess i will have to wait to see what Handspring and others come out with this summer.I see handspring pulled the treo 90 and they don't have another unit that doesn't have the attached phone portion as I need nextel service. Tell me why did nextel pick Blackberry over PPC or Palm??
I am getting way off track.. later
