A few days ago, I wrote to the developer of AppShelf regarding the new landscape support for the TH55. I gave him some links to this site discussing about Clie Organizer and landscape support by Mobile Stream. Hiroaki Imazeki was kind enough to respond and made an update for AppShelf. I don't know what it does as I don't have the Landscape program installed on my TH55. But for those who uses AppShelf and the Landscape Application by Mobile Stream you can definitely try it.

I also posted this thread in the Skin & Backgrounds section. Here is a copy of the letter with links:

AppShelf Ver.1.2Beta2 was released.
It can download from the following addresses.
http://www.jade.dti.ne.jp/~imazeki/palm/APsh/index-e.html

The position of CLIEOrganizer tab menu on AppShelf is displayed right side.

In message "Re: AppShelf question about landscape support",
Hiroaki Imazeki wrote...

"Thank you for mail. I understand English only a little. This mail is writing by using translation software. Therefore, I want it forgiven even when there is an expression which isn't right.

With the following beta version(Ver.1.2Beta2) of AppShelf, it is due to correspond also to a state when a screen rotates on CLIE. However, since two or more functions are added to Ver.1.2Beta2 , Ver.1.2Beta2 is still unstable. Therefore, it is due to release after a test is completed."

Hi,

A new program is available today for Sony Clie NX/NZ/TH that enables these models to work in landscape mode. Here is a link:

http://www.mobile-stream.com/landscape_info.html

I have not tried it yet but a few have and said that the Clie Organizer Mode of AppShelf does not work with this new application. I was hoping maybe you can find a way for it to work as a future update for AppShelf. Here is a link to some of the discussions:

http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78705&page=24&pp=15

From what I know, AppShelf works fine with this landscape application without the Clie Organizer Mode checked, but it does not work right if we turn it on. Hope you consider this issue in your future update.

Thanks again.

Sincerely,

Skaah

I just caught this myself. :)

Damn, Hiroaki Imazeki Sensei :p is FAST with the updated versions. He makes really amazing, well thought out apps. Domo Arigato Hiroaki San.
:D

And thanks to you too Christian! For bringing this to his attention.

I wonder if this new beta fixes the wallpaper not displaying in full landscape in AppShelf issue, when AppShelf is used in conjuction with Landscape 1.0?

I was just trying to help ease the transition of the landscape application on our TH55. Mr. H. Imazeki deserves all the credit for trying to make AppShelf better than ever.

Thanks to you too for those threads in the UX series. Those helped a lot, especially when I just got my UX50.

Just checked. It does!! :D How's that for getting my own rebound? LOL ;)

Actually, this new AppShelf is AMAZING when used in conjuction with Landscape 1.0!!

You can now have a different wallpaper picture for when AppShelf is in Landscape OR portrait! Truly an Improvement, along with many others contained in AppShelf v1.2 Beta 3.

WOW! Now you're pushing me on the edge to get the landscape application a lot sooner than I planned. I am trying to control my urge to buy it right now. I am waiting for an update before I go ahead and take the plunge. :D

Good one. Last time I was on UnLoGiC's forum, I noticed the forum total was 666. Needless to say, I quickly remedied that.

Just tried the AppShelf update. After I found that the extended area can now be set at the right, I posted front page news.

I also found other new settings within like transparency and bitmap support. I guess I'll play with these soon.

Hey Joel. Can you please explain a little more what exactly this feature is/does? Thanks. :)

Well, judging by the screenshots in the AppShelf site, the tabs and buttons can be changed by using bitmaps. I don't know how to do this... yet.

Also, I've just discovered that if you're in landscape and the extended area is moved to the bottom, there seems to be space for four modules yet only three can be modified. Anyone know what the fourth space is used for?

Looks like you can just add a forth module now Joel :)

Yup, always nice to add a forth module:)
Also, I've noticed that he now includes more information on how to make new frames in the frame sample files. Although I'm not a programer(so I don't understand the info), I guess that means that it will be easier for programers to do frames now, right?

Oh, and has anyone tried the new "FileBrowser" function?
I can't seem to open jpg files with "McJPEG" from the FileBrowser (in beta 2)
Does that mean I still need to open jpg files from a "McJPEG related" catagory?
(same with HTML files with Netfront)

Hai! Yakuza-san! LOL :D

I made sure I picked a photo I liked, then re-sized it to 480x320 pixels. The I just chose "Walpaper" from the pull-down menu, and hit "Import". That's all.

How are you going about it?

Mosquito (in theory...supposedly it really works) emits a high frequency audio tone from your PalmOS device (that has an external speaker of course) that repels mosquitos. I'm waiting for around June to try it here. lol

Mosquito v1.0 (www.geocities.com/terawats)

There is also an app along these lines called "Doggy" that's suposed to repel dogs by emitting a high-pitched tone that only they can hear. I totally forgot where I got this app, but the app is called "Doggy" or "Scare the dog v1.0". The apps author is Fabian Heuwieser. Goggle might be of help on this one.

PToolbox works in conjunction with the testing app called "PalmInternals".

<EDIT> I was mistaken. PToolbox goes with an app called Battery Time (http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&prodid=45712).

ZagatToGo is the Palm version of the Zagat restaurant, hotel, resort etc. guides.

winexprt what program did you use to do the screen capture?

I normally SWEAR by ZGrab (http://www.codejedi.com). But while I'm testing Landscape v1.0, ZGrab doesn't work with it, so I now use Snap v0.2.5 (http://cmaillot.free.fr/dl/snap-0.2.5.zip), which is nice, but it doesn't capture the Sony SB. :(

Thanks for the link for the mosquito. Interesting little application. I installed it too just to test it.

I found the "Scare The Dog application", but I love dogs, so I hate to try it. But here is the link:

Haa. I love dogs too...NICE DOGS. ;)

I'm quite sure the developer had the 'not so nice' doggies in mind when he made this. :D

Thanks for the link!
