View Full Version : Missing-Sync's days are numbered...??

Many Mac OSX users have indicated that the only way to sync Clie with Mac is to spend $30 for an over-valued driver called Missing-Sync. With months of research and experiment, I have managed to sync my N710/N760 with my iBook, without Missing-sync, in an amazing speed and performance. What a joy to see my toys talking to each other intimately!
At this stage, I am still trying to figure out what have I done to my OSX 10.2.4 system that enables me to sync. Various testings are still going on to see if the connection is stable and reliable, and if it is compatible with all the conduits for applications such as AppleMail, iCal, Address Book, iTunes, iPhoto, Entourage, and Palm Desktop 4.0, especially all that can be done with Missing-Sync. I am also seeking to have other Clie models tested on this connection.
Missing-sync's days are numbered... might become a REALITY soon!!:D :D :p

i don't see how this qualifies as a poll.
however, let me see if i understand the gist of the post. while i have been one of the strongest proponents of missing sync, i have never said it was the only way to sync a clie with the mac - just the easiest. you have to have it to sync with mac os 9.x, but with os 10.2.x you only need it if your clie is set up for mp3s (without added equipment). but, even then you miss the ability to mount the memory stick on the desktop and conduits for iphoto and itunes.
you go on to say that after "months of research and experiment" you have been able to get it to sync but that "Various testings are still going on to see if the connection is stable and reliable, and if it is compatible with all the conduits for applications such as AppleMail, iCal, Address Book, iTunes, iPhoto, Entourage, and Palm Desktop 4.0." For $30 i skipped months of experimenting and frustration and have a solution that is very stable and reliable, is compatible with every conduit that works on the mac and does some things that aren't possible in the windoze world. even in the perfect world where macs and clies could sync out of the box i would pay just for that. but this isn't that world and that we need to get the extra driver is not markspace's fault, but sony's. maybe one day sony will wake up and make the mac platform work with the clies but until that day i am thankful to have missing sync to turn to while using my advanced clies.

Hmm, interesting "poll."

A stupid poll--both "choices" amount to the same thing.
ibookclie said, "With months of research and experiment..." he was able to sync without TMS. He must value his time very little indeed. For me, $30 would more than compensate for even just one hour of frustration.

can you mount your Mstick without missingS?
is your clié an mp3 player in itunes?
is you Mstick a digicam in iphoto?

Umm... yeah. Take that $30, divide it by the number of hours over the number of months you just spent testing it and see if it was really "worth your time."
Yes, if *all* you want to do is sync, then go ahead and live without Missing Sync. I, on the other hand, am more than happy to show support for a small company who is doing something for us that Sony should be doing, but isn't.

Agree. Missing Sync is well worth $30. And is it just me, or are the sentences 'With months of research and experiment' and 'At this stage, I am still trying to figure out what have I done to my OSX 10.2.4 system that enables me to sync' bizarrely inconsistent with each other?
