What is this feature used for? When it is turned on and I try to get on line everything freezes up.
Anyone know what might be going on?
Thanks,

PowerSaver mode cuts back on the WiFi transmission power in order to preserve the battery life. However, not all WiFi access points get along well with this, so if you are having problems, either disable PowerSaver mode for that specific access point, or try a different access point.

Thanks Bob. Part of my problem, aside from not know what that feature was for, was that since it defaults on after a hard reset my wifi did not work anywhere. However, the part that does not work is that the palm freezes up when I go online. This happens every time if the Power save mode is on. It happens in both the browser and the email programs.
Any thoughts about what might be going on?

If you install the Mobile Connection Manager software (might want to check the name, sorry I'm at work at the time of this posting) from your Clie CDROM and then immediately uninstall the windows application from your PC (I find it worthless, and will interefere later with settings because it wants you to use the Windows app for that for some reason and will change settings back on you if not)
You will end up with Mobile Manager on your TH55.
The Mobile Manager app is really great for managing multiple WiFi connections, including the minutiae of settings for each one. (including power save mode) When your connections are entered, you simply activate one and it will handle it for you.
What is also cool is that if you restore your machine from a backup, Mobile Manager's settings will be restored as well, meaning that even if Power Save mode is on by default, Mobile Manager's settings will prevail.
At one time I was looking into "breaking out" the PalmOS Mobile Manager app from my handheld in an attempt to work around the windows install process, but I think I ran into trouble somewhere. (We have folks here who do that stuff better.)
I personally feel that this app is priceless if you connect to more than one WiFi network because it saves alot of manual configuring every time, so if anyone could help with that breakout process that would be great.
EDIT
- I also think it would be a great addition to the growing list of TH55 "enhancers" that are available.
END EDIT
Hope this helps. WiFi on a TH55 can be a joy, but bothersome if not configured right.

Power saving mode saves a whole lot of battery. It is good for anything but downloads and hotsyncs. Hotsyncs are agonizingly slow with powersaving on.

Sony help line hooked me up the Moble Manager when I first got my clie. It is very convinenent loging onto different networks, which I do alot. (Though I find that they are getting harder to find as they are buttoned up with security and more pay programs)
My problem is that if I turn Power Save on my clie hangs up as soon as I try to use do anything on the web. It finds the network, and the browser opens, and gets on line. It is when I point it to a web site that it just freezes. e-mail is the same way. the software opens up and it goes on line. When I hit the download icon the task bar appears. then it hangs up.
It only does all this when the power save mode is on.
It is a bummer.

Thanks for the tip about Mobile Manger, strider_mt2k. I can't believe no one has talked about this much at all. Or maybe I never noticed it. It is a great little app!

The SharkscanDA lets you do everything that MobileManager used to do, but its a DA. You should look into it.
To clarify, when I say this, I mean that it allows quick access to wireless profiles, and allows you to switch them quickly, which is the main purpose of mobilemanager, but the DA lets you do it without leaving the program you are currently in.
