Our household has three Macs and an Airport base. Our internet connection is cable modem, attbi. All work as they should, speak to each other, print remotely, etc. But the new wifi card for my Clie NX70V will not connect. I've spent hours reading various threads here, and have heeded Larry's advice to keep it simple. I have turned off the Airport firewall. The Clie settings are:

Wireless LAN> Home [the name of our household network]> SSID "Any"> WEP "none"> Connect Mode "Infrastructure"> IP Address "Auto"> DNS Address "Auto" > PowerSaver "unchecked."

I have also tried the AdHoc connect mode, with no better results. The moment I hit "connect" I get "retrying." I have also tried to connect from EudoraWeb, with the same non-result.

TIA for any suggestions. I am NOT a network whiz, so please spell it out. :-)

Thanks for the advice about the WAN -- I'm afraid that when I checked in the Airport Admin software, it's unchecked (off). So that's not the problem. Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Karen

Oops -- sorry, I meant WEP, but typed wan. WEP is not enabled on our Airport.

I had the similar problem but with a D-Link 614+ Router.

I found here in this forum an answer from the User n2ifp, where he said that "IF THE PREAMBLE TYPE IN THE ROUTER IS SHORT PREAMBLE, IT WILL NOT WORK".

It was exactly the problem I had. I have changed this parameter to LONG PREAMBLE and IT IS WORKING NOW.

Try It. It is something you need to change in the Airport.
