Need some help from the video Clie experts...
I have recent purchased the Sony Video Recorder vr100. So, been enjoying watching tv programs on my NZ-90. I would like to edit the programs to get the comericals out. Is there any "free" program out there? It would be great to sink file size and put together full MS of my favorite shows. Big fan of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart...and most prime time tv..anyway, any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Gdawg

:( Hey folks,
I see a lot of views on my posts but no answers... I don't know if it was my wording or what. The program doesn't have to be FREE, just let me know if it is possible to edit the mpeg videos.

Thanks,
Gdawg

Hi,

Can you specify the format of the files? If it's mpeg we're talking about it will be difficult to find free software to deal with it. Anyway, it will be difficult to find a free sofware to do video editing... there a few to convert, but not to edit.

Thanks Rui,
I believe it is the mpeg4 format. I can play all the tv stuff on the MMplayer on my NZ-90. Do you have any recommendations of programs you have used? Thanks for responding.

Well, I use professional software like Adobe's Premiere or Pinnacle's Studio 8...
But they are a lot expensive... but anyway, there are ways to find "free versions", right?

It's a special MPEG4 format. You will need a video editor that is able to import Quicktime videos. Better try a test version first to see if it works.
Ulead offers trial version for Video Studio or Ulead MediaStudio Pro.

I doubt you will find a program that is able to export back into the original format. You might have to create a MPEG Video first and then convert it with Sony's Image Converter (1.1 or 1.5).

Gdawg, have you tried TMPGEnc? It is free or shareware (I forget) and you can convert between variety of formats. While you do this, you can also choose to edit out parts in between. (I don't know what the latest version is and whether that can deal with MPEG4)

You can check it out at http://www.tmpgenc.net/

Hope this helps...
