I just purchased an SJ33 and gave my old Palm IIIx (OS3.1) to my son. When I tried to load my Clie software I was instructed to delete the Palm Desktop which I didn't want to do. I decided to load the Clie at work but now I want it at home but also want the IIIx Palm desktop too. How is this accomplished? Can I have both on the same computer or will the IIIx work with the Clie software. Will the Clie software differentiate between the serial Palm cradle and the USB Clie cable? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Steve,
My advice would be to use the Palm Desktop software for your CLIE. Don't replace it with the Sony version, unless there's a specific problem. I've read where some folks have problems with the Sony software. If you're running an older version of Windows, you can and should load the MS Export application off the Sony CD. You can do that without loading the Desktop software.
Now, to get 2 units sync'd to one computer should be no problem, as long as they both have different usernames. Hotsync will take care of the Serial/USB 'problem', and use what it needs depending on the Palm connected.
I still have my old Palm IIIxe, as well as an SJ20. I can't sync them both on the same PC because I used the same username for my CLIE. I did that on purpose, so I didn't have to re-buy and/or re-register the dozen or more programs I have already registered.
Hope this helps some...
