I'm curious if some of you power users have recommendations on how to manage/allocate memory on the T5.

I upgraded from an older unit (M500), and really have NO idea on this one. I also bet I'm not alone here!

After using my T5 for several months now without any real regard for its memory, my current memory looks like this:

Device - Free Space 23.6 of 63.8
Internal - Free Space 158.7 of 161.2
External - I have 512mb card

Hows does that compare?

Also, how do you handle email attachments when using wifi? I'm using Inbox to Go Wireless, and the only option offered is save to card. Unfortunately, the card can't be installed while the wifi card is. Is versamail better?

Thanks, in advance, for your help.

While I can't comment on this too intelligently, as I have a T3, isn't the "internal" memory treated like a card? Couldn't you save attachments to that? (I don't know if InboxToGo can handle "multiple" cards, so maybe it's only programmed to save stuff to an SD card.) From what I'm gathering, the attachments you're trying to save aren't PalmOS files (prc's and pdb's), so they can't be saved to Device memory, since the filesystem doesn't allow that. They have to be saved to a "card" that can accept any files. I think the "internal" memory is that way, but again, I only know what I've read about the T5 (and often, there are conflicting descriptions of the T5 memory structure).

The INTERNAL memory is formatted like the memory on your SD card and so you can use the wifi card and then download attachments there. After you are done with the wifi card and put your normal SD card in, you can just copy the files from INTERNAL to your card.

Breakdown T5 Memory Structure: (in small format)
55MB program mem
161MB Internal memory card
SD card slot
10MB of hidden swap memory used for opening databases that need lots of expanding space.

Hope that helps.

Just a friendly reminder: If you have to hard reset your device for some reason, all the information in program memory (55 MB) and all the information in internal memory (161 MB) is erased. So..while you can use the internal memory like an external SD card, it does not retain information after a hard reset like the information stored on the external SD card.
