I'm planning to buy the new tg50 as well as the new BT equipped powerbook. What are some things I need to know if I want to hotsync the tg50 with the powerbook via bluetooth. Do I need this missing sync software that everyone is talking about or can I use isync? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I think isync will work to sync with ical and address book

The MissingSync is primarily for accessing the Memorystick. You may or may not be able to sync your Clie without it, but with the MissingSync installed not only can you tranfer files to and from your Memorystick, you can also use iTunes to transfer songs.

If you just want to sync your address book and calender, you may be able to get by without it. To use iSync, you need to install Apple's Palm conduit as well and once you are using iSync it will be disable syncing to your Palm Desktop. I am presently syncing my NR-70 with my .Mac account, Calender, Addressbook, and T68i. It all works very well together. The only problem I experienced was that several entries were duplicated the first time I synched on my address book, and some of the fields were improperly transferred, but since then I haven't had any problems.

I yesterday I bought the TG50. After having tried to make it work with my mac for a while without success, I searched the internet.
With 2 results: I discovered this forum, and I discovered MissingSync.
With MissingSync everything works perfectly.
The duplication appears if you merge the phone entries and the computer entries. Today I cleaned everything on the mac, and synced telling iSync to erase and rewrite everything.
Now is perfect.
Except for my T68i that stalls halfway. Solved at the moment beaming all the cards from the Clie' to the phone via Bluetooth. Perfect.
I think the phone problem is due to its sw, since is more than 1 year old. As soon as I'll go back in Italy I'll upgrade it.

Ciao

Well... just to add my experience, I have a Clie nx70v, with a bluetooth adapter, and it syncs fine with my iMac G4 without Missing Sync.
(it was a bit of a pain to set up, but that's not to do with the syncing part, just the bluetooth is annoying to configure)

I'm not sure if this is a new thing to 10.2.4, because I haven't tried it on anything else. I also haven't tried it with the USB cradle, because I use that at work.

hello,

it took me a while but i FINALLY got my tg50 to sync via bluetooth.

i installed the belkin bluetooth usb adapter and paired my imac and clie together with no problems. i then configured hotsync manager - no dice!!!

i tried everything... i ended up uninstalling palm desktop and reinstalling isync and isync palm conduit. i even reinstalled missing sync.

what i ended up doing was removing my clie from isync and then used palm desktop to re-add it... i actually did this several different times.

thankfully something i did worked and i was able to sync - slower than usb!!!

unfortunately, i had duplicate entries in my calendar, too.

luckily, i used ms backup a day ago and also sync'd with ical, address book as well as my .mac account before trying this.

i restored from ms backup and - at this moment - i am syncing with my .mac account which is current.

next project... browse the www on my clie via bluetooth and my imac's connection!!!

I also got my NZ90 to sync with my 12" powerbook using missing sync via bluetooth, but it is much slower than using the cradle. As for browsing the web on your clie via a Mac, try this link: http://www.technohappymeal.com/archives/000069.html

Any ideas why the bluetooth is so much slower than the cradle. I have been using the BT to sync with my mac and it sure does seem slow. I am going to try it on my PC to see if it is as slow but have not had time so far. Any ideas on how to speed it up.

hi,

let's say the usb port is running at 11mbs and bluetooth is running at something like 1mbs... does that help???

mmm, for now I only look at bluetooth as having worth in the "wow factor" category
