Thanks :)
Or just point me in the right direction in relation to the Treo 650.

One of the biggest advantages for me are that I can use a GSM phone almost anywhere in the world.
The other thing for me is that I can plug the SIM card into any GSM phone and it will work. I don't have to call my provider or do anything else. The only limitations are the the phone has to be either unlocked, or locked to my provider, and the phone has to support my GSM band. This has come in handy when I have wanted to use a phone that isn't supported by my provider - just pick it up from eBay, plug in the card and it is running.
Another example of this happened last summer when I was expecting a very important call on my cel phone when it died. I just stole my wife's phone for the day and plugged my SIM in. When the call came, I got it. Later in the day, I picked up a replacement and returned her phone.

Thanks Foghead. I have seen others in my family use this card and a switch and they were up and running immediately as well. So the transfer of data must be easy if everything can be stored on that card I would assume as well.
Also, GSM uses less juice than CDMA, Iden, etc... Which means longer talk/stanby time.

Doesn't make any difference to me. I still have to go a mile up the hill to get service at my home in Maine, whatever.
Mostly, I think it is a question of what the phone DOES that meets your needs and a phone price and program price that you can live with.
