Can anyone please help, I purchased a Sandisk 1GB Memorystick recently and plugged it in to my NX73V. All seemed well, the card was recognised until I tried to load a game 'Acedior' and 'MCA_2_05_TEST' for sound.
The memory stick suddenly stopped working and now will not be recognised, a question mark sign appears on the card symbol.
I also looked down the card slot with a torch and noticed that one of the pins (second from the end near the reset button) looks as if it has been pushed back, is this normal, can someone please check their unit to see if they have all 10 pins upright.

The card cannot be formatted either because the card is not recognised.

Hope someone can help.

Send Sandisk the info and try to get a replacement under the 5 year warranty.

Sorry, best I could do in 1 minute:

The pin that seems to have bent is in the PDA slot itself, not on the stick. I now think that this is what has happened after pushing the stick in, as I have just noticed a very small bit of plastic burr on the second pin of the stick in the exact pin slot as the bent pin in the PDA. Havent got a clue as to how I can bend it back though.

If you have a long set of tweezers/pliers, you may be able to bend it back
Try to get it straight (parallel with other pins), it doesn't have to be level with the other pins [they have some springy-ness to them to make contact with the 10 tabs]

Tricky to do, but can be done. Sony service to replace the socket is another option.

Don't even bother with Sony Support. Chances are your NX73V is out of warranty and they'll fix it for you... with a hefty bill and will refuse to return it to you without payment. If you're in warranty, they'll fix it for you but'll break something else in the process or atleast scratch it up for you a bit.

Try CliePet's suggestion or try to use a straightened paper clip (you can also bend it to fit the memory stick slot, if you do all you have to do is bring it under the bent pin and hook it up slowly) or a toothpick (might be tricky though). I don't know the exact situation so whatever you do, do it with caution or you might weaken the pin enough for it to fall off. Also, directions listed above are rough so be careful and modify wherever needed.

yep, my experience of Sony's warranty repairs is bad. the power switch on my NX broke while in warranty, so i phoned them to get it repaired. i got it back now repaired and the CF slot has stopped working completely. its going back in a few days again :( ill be without it for about a week
