It's probably impossible, but is there any way I can change the system 'beep' and 'click' sounds. Because those rely on the kind of speakers most palms have - the old piezos. Clies should be able to do better than that, however. These short farting noises it makes when you click on a menu or something sound like mini versions of the annoying beeps my alarm clock makes.

Thanks.

I'm not sure if this would get you closer to what you want, but there's a free set of sounds for the palm devices called "GeekSounds".  It gives you a LOT more choices for your allarm sounds.  Here's a link for it at PalmGear.com:

Also be aware that to get the sounds, you go the Datebook Preferences and select them there.

I know of the alarm sounds and all, you can also reach those through Sound Utility (indeed that's the only place to actually manage them). But I mean the hardcoded palm beeps that you hear whenever you, say, enter a menu and click on items. It seems that it would be possible to implement system sound replacement with some hack, or something. But I guess this isn't so popular.
But thanks for a reply!

I knew that I had downloaded a piece of software that did this.... and it's called Sound Pref. I cant find it a PalmGear and the guy doesn't seem to have a web page... But the email address in "Tips" screen is aoyagi@uec.ac.jp .
it allows you to change the standard "beeps and clicks" tvarious sounds...
I think there's another piece of software that does this as well. I can't remember what its called... I'll keep looking through my collection of Palm Software... It takes a while, since I've been a Palm user since '96 :)
Good Luck!

After a brief search of PalmGear.com, I found an $8 shareware hack called TechSounds:

It sounds like what you are trying to do.
