View Full Version : GSM Treo 650: now $100 more
From BargainPDA: "Over the past few hours palmOne compounded the damage already done (releasing the Treo 650 with a poor memory configuration, weak and neutered Bluetooth radio, missing WiFi...the list goes on) by raising the price of the unlocked Treo 650 by $100." Wow, this really sucks! I was/am about to put my Tungsten C on eBay this weekend to purchase a Treo 650 in a few weeks but I am really starting to think twice about buying a Treo. Aside from the talked about shortcommings, now I have to justify spending $100 more!
Any other thoughts on this?
There are multiple articles out now, from Brighthand and Cnet to name a few. Apparently, PalmOne is seeing a deluge of buyers of unlocked Treos.

This just may be the thing that pushes me to (I'm afraid to say it) Poooccckkettt PPPP CCCCC. Okay there I said It! Glad I got through that. I wish Sony never left the market. I think they were the only ones keeping Palm OS alive. Even today my NX80 still seems to beat anything palm one has to offer.

Shadowmite was planning on releasing a hack to unlock the 650. Ill assume the normal 650s do not have a GSM slot though, am I correct?
JJ, any other word regarding samsung's palm os smartphone? Its good to know that there might actually be some competition in the Palm OS smartphone realm. Might even start looking at the Qool QDA-700 IF its available in the states.

What do you mean by neutered blue tooth?P1 disabled the Bluetooth profile(s) necessary for Internet access tethering to a laptop.
If it was really a pricing error on P1's part, they should have caught it almost immediately, not 2 days later. This stinks of pressure from Cingular.

I wonder how the HP Mobile Messenger is going to be when released and who'll pick it up in the states; Cingular or T-Mobile.
The 'dark side' isn't looking so 'dark' any more.

That HP Mobile Messenger has a horrible resolution. It's something rediculous like 120x120.
