Isn't Steve Jobs the CEO of Apple?
If so, why would he dis a device that has a screen and looks way better than his device. Also, he really took a low blow. I agree mike p, its a load of BS.

LOL. Depends on who's viewing the presentation. Any presentation, however good it is, would always look bad to people who are against the one presenting it.

Ha ha, you peeps found a grain of sand and are trying to play ball with it. :D
You should watch the Keynote (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/mwsf05/) instead of taking an already skewed view of of the preso that has been blown out of context. Apple's point about the "small screen" is that it's not user friendly and overly complicated to use making it difficult to navigate and find ones music. Basically a "lost cause," because of its small size. Apple stated they did not want to go down this route and since the market is already flooded with it and the iShuffle is and entrly level iPod, they had only one objective; simplicity. It either plays through your playlist or shufffles it.
But I doubt that you peeps will ever watch the Keynote and will only reply to what I've stated off what little bit of incaccurate info you've cached in your frontal lobes. ;)

I find that the Rio devices are fairly well-designed in all points but the interface. To click the tiny 'back' button, it requires you to move your thumb from the side of the device to the front on the other side of the device and hope that it registers your press. And clicking down on the (quite slippery) jog wheel while actually clicking the right thing is an excercise in futility. This is magnified by the fact that it's not on the side of the device, but the top right corner. Rio needs some usability lessons. The up and down scrolling thing is a joke as well. After only a minute of playing with Best Buy's display Zen Micro, my thumb felt like it would go on strike and fall off. This is the polar opposite of the iPod, who's round scrolling action feels natural.

Just finished watching the keynote (the whole two hours) and I still think that it should have a small display; t wouldn't a mess a bit with the user interface and it would be helpful to quickly find a song...
BTW, I loved the part where they display MS's stock going down :D.

On a second note, I just finished watching part of Gates's CES keynote... man, even Conan couldn't save the boring little guy.

But the idea, is that you shuffle it, so it really doesn't matter what song plays next. It's targeting peeps like my brother-in-law and client who always listen to random play and are active. I would only want a number on a screen if it were that tiny. I usually only remember that anyways and not the name of the song when it comes to my music.
On one hand you have Gates, all quiet and not really a showman, then you have Steve Balmer (http://jokke.dk/media/balmer.html), a screaming baboon. Steve Jobs isn't the best showman, but he really makes those guys looke like dorks. :)
Just to ramble;
So you see the beuty of iLife now. :) GarageBand2 is absolutely awesome, I use it compose little loops that are going into my new site. It's by far the easiest, but yet most powerful music app i've used.

Advice to Microsoft: Lock Ballmer in a cage.
I find it annoying that it does not at least have a number display. So what happens if I like a song, how do I go about finding it to play it again? Scroll through 200 songs?

iLife? You gotta be kidding me... I want a frigging Mac mini!!! Although the truth is that what really sold me was Tiger, and that cool iDVD app. I guess neither can run in the mini's g4/combo drive configuration :(. Anyway, Jobs is a great salesman, I was really impressed :).

You can upgrade to a SuperDrive for $100 more. :) iDVD is part of iLife. ;)
Tiger is awesome, I haven't installed my seed yet, but have been watching all the videos I got with my dev package.
When you have a great product to back you up, then you can truly be a great salesman. :D

You should consider an iPod Mini it's only $100 more, you would get a screen, along with great navigation, plus it will hold 4 times the music and it's size is "mini." :)

Dang, now I get the idea behind the shuffle. If you want a flash drive that is capable of playing music and is also really cool, then it definitely makes sense.

Nah, I would never take the mini over a "grown" iPod.
