Welp, they dropped the price enough for me to bite. I just ordered a Zodiac 2. Means I'll be packing up my trusty TH55 and either giving it to my wife or shipping it to my mom or dad (who have both been drooling over it since I bought it).
Gonna miss the icons on the clie.
Any of you using Datebook 5 on your zod?

As a long time owner of a Zodiac2 (Dec '03) I can say I think you guys are gonna LOVE your Zodiacs!
In case you don't already know about it there is a terrific Zodiac fansite called Tapland (http://www.tapland.com). Great group of friendly and helpful folks.
Sentient Carbon you may want to reconsider giving away that TH55. I still have mine and use it interchangebly my Zodiac. I still use the camera on the TH55 quite a bit. The TH55 was so hard to get ahold of that I will have to be really desperate before I give it up.

I have gone from a TH55 to a zod. I still have my TH I Like it a lot, but hardly use it. I use agendus more than DB5. I am still torn apart if I should bring back my TH to Comp USA and get store credit or just keep it for a backup. But congrats on your zod. You willlove it. I just recommend to get a case of some kind. The standard Zod screen cover sucks, it just slides out of the way and your screen is exposed.

Well, I don't have that problem with my T3 as I use a SX1 from Siemens which has a very nice camera if supplied with the latest firmware(I use FW12.TmobileAustria). Since the image transfer works well with my T3, I think that it should also work with the Zodiac. Then you have phone and cam and can leave the TH55 at home...

DateBk5 works well on my Z2. The button re-assignment is a bit strange. I set mine to:
Date: 4
Addr: -
ToDo: 3
Memo: -
Then the blue and green buttons act like up/down buttons on a PalmOne device.

Hey all. Well, my Zod arrived today :D and I've spent the last hours or so getting acquanted with my new toy. One really weird (and dissapointing thing) happened - when I went to register it at the UK site, it accepted my email and zod serial number, but then wouldn't let me buy any software. Kept saying "invalid email/password". Yet oddly, when I go to register it again, it goes straight to my data after entering my email and password.
I've contacted the customer service department, who apparently are as flummoxed as I, and are hopefully sorting out. The said they'd send me an email.
That ever happen to you guys?
As per DtBk5, I've loaded it onto my new PDA (used to have it on my NR70V). I'd forgotten that it was lo-res. Maybe I'll surf on over to pimlico and see if there's a hi-res version.
Any suggestions on a webbrowser? I really like netfront 3 for my TH55.
Thanks

I lost hope on a web browser for my Zod 2. I AM JUST STICKING TO THE WEB ON MY TH. Crap forgot to turn off caps...:( I am just disappointed that there is no 3rd party Web browser that is Landscape and has good features.

Congrats on you new toy too. How do you like it? I like the Hardware Landscape feature the most. Whats your favorite feature?

Favourite Zod2 Features:
1) 128 mb internal storage! I've got every single program I ever had on my TH55 plus WAY more and STILL have 54 mb left!
2) Control - especially that slick stick! Makes it easier olliein', carvin' flash grinds and full vert noz (bought Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 to remind me of my mispent youth as a skater punk).
3) 2 Expansion slots - both of which are glaringly empty right now. Need to get some SD cards...
Things I don't like (note: this is from only having my Zod for 2 days now):
1) Tapwave customer support - I had to solve my registration problem myself. The email they sent me basicly said "go to the site and register."
2) Poor hotsync connector - really have to be sure it's in there. And don't even think about trying to game with it connected (luckily the battery is pretty good).
3) Lack of Canadian support. Tapwave went from the US to the UK to Asia. What's up with that? Hopefully they'll open a Canuckian branch before I have to move back home.
4) Lack of a decent web browser. Web Browser seems really poor. I can get it to connect via cellphone, but it takes a bejeezus long time to open a site, and usually I get a "URL not responding message". Perhaps I have a setting wrong somewhere. Snappermail, on the other hand ROCKS (landscape full screen!).
Hmm, generally speaking, there really isn't that much I don't like about the device itself... More the whole "tapwave" industry thing.
Walp - time to go play a game or two. I just kicked Lucy's white wig all over the track. Now to work on the other Stunt Car drivers...

When researching for this purchase I noticed that a lot of Zodiac owners have been sending there units back for replacement - some even 2 or 3 times. Any of you have problems? Or should I just chalk that up to aggressive gamers who are a little rougher on their gear?

skweezer makes up for a lot of the innadequacies found in the web browser. You can use there free service which will optimize the pages to your zod's screen size, landscape or portrait. If you want you can purchase a one year licence which will also significantly reduce the file size. I only use the free service.

Interesting. Please elaborate. :)

Skweezer is a proxy service that optimizes web pages for PalmOS, PPC, and windows computers. I think it started as a service for speeding up dial up connections and began including handheld optimization. They will sell annual licenses that take advantage of all of their optimization features, but if all your looking for is screen resizing, that is free. When I first tried skweezer I was using all of their opt features with my T3. I really did speed up page loads. After the trial period they gave me limited service for free wich still includes nice page optimization on the Zod. The only horizontal scrolling that I do is on "some" web pages that can't be reconfigured horizontally, but most pages optimize pretty well.
