"Multimedia System Error"

I am getting this message when I open my camera, followed by the following:
"Unkown error occured in Multimedia System. Clie Camera will abort."

I called sony about it. They want me to send it back to get fixed.

Can anyone tell me of a simple way to fix this short of sending it back.
I am already having withdrawl fits at just the thought of being without it for a week or more.

I think this happens when you install some conflicting types of software. A hard reset should probably fix it, and you can selectively re-install to see what could be causing the problem.

No, this is a hardware fault with the camera - I had the same thing, had to send it back, and I've seen at least half-a-dozen similar posts.

This has, so far, been one of the most common hardware problems with the TH55 sadly :(

I have done both a soft reset and a hard reset. Neither of these fixed it.
Any idea how it happens so that I might avoid it happening again?

It's been theorised that pressure on the circular metal camera bezel can cause the problem - I figure there's a dodgy contact in there somewhere.

Only way to fix it is by opening that sucker up AFAIK, which means an RTB to Sony :(
