well... kind of.... after some googling on replacement watches... found out the battery (solar rechargeable) is only supposed to last 3 years... it's been 3 years... though it quit in one day, never seen that.... charge suddenly lasts an hour or less....

anyhow... battery or not.... sounds like a good excuse to buy a new watch.... me and my gadgets... :D This is actually the longest lasting watch I have ever had... I normally kill a watch in under 6 months... usually around 2-3 months. Gshock is the only thing I have never broken... :)

Or maybe use your PalmOS handheld as a clock...

naw... too casual to glance at when you are bored to death in a meeting... ;)

I like to give the hint... ;)

I'm looking for a digital watch myself. Something as thin as possible--thicker watches get caught when I put on a backpack. It seems the current trend is that only women's and analog watches are thin... I've got an analog watch, but it's really hard for someone like me to do the arithmetic (e.g., to read that it's 18 past the hour, one must calculate 3x5+3, or at least remember that 3 o'clock is 15 minutes, and then add three minutes). I think it's my PhD in math that makes it so hard. :-)

there are lots of male thin watches, I can't wear them. It either has to be solid steel (no bolts to break off -- a Timex Expedition series watch lasted me 3 months before I broke off the face plate by breaking off the holding bolts), or solid rubber.

I'd probably break that sundial.... (either that or I would kill myself by accident with it) and elmo would last less than 24hours before I struck my arm against a wall and shattered it.

I have only about 25% feeling in my left hand due to a bone graft over 20 years ago. (back then it was no feeling after surgery, so it has healed a lot). Unfortunately limited feeling for so long breaks the instinct that prevents injury. :) So my watch is all that stands betwen hitting my arm full force into walls and equipment as I walk around them. :)

I used to... but it confuses the masses who expect me to then be left handed... but since I am also a klutz, that only reduces the problem, not elliminates it. ;)

If I weren't a klutz I wouldn't be hitting my arm in the first place. :p

Get a Tissot with tactile technology (http://www.tissot.ch/cgi-bin/cgi2.exe?SECT=PROD_TACTILE). Tissot is one of the most elegant and renowned swiss watch makers, plus they have great touch screen technology in their high tech watches. Mine is not touch screen, but it's super reliable and a great looker :).

Well, if you want to give a hint in a meeting.. and you don't want to break it..how 'bout a pocket watch? I've got a nice Mickey mouse antiquey type of look one, and its still going after 9 years ( my watches had the same problem yours did ...i'd kill em in weeks to months)

I have a Swatch Flattention I like to wear. It's very thin and made of steel and stuff. It was only a 1998 special edition however and I cannot find it in any online shop.

Good Evening-

Buy a Seiko. Any Seiko. Best watch for under $1,000 there is. Go for the one they call the "Orange Monster". Here is a link:

http://home.woh.rr.com/johnholbrook/seikoskx781k.html

I own sixteen Seiko watches. A Breitling, a Rolex, three Timex's, a Patek Phileppe, an ESQ, a Movado, a Doxa, two Omegas, a Raymond Weil, a Gucci (total shite), two Casios, two Fossils, six Citizens, a TAG, a RADO and an IWC. Love my Seikos the best.

P.S. Obviously I like watches. Time in general is a fascination of mine.

time has destructive properties for me... beyond the metaphysical, every timex and seiko wind up watch I ever owned had the wind up dial broken off in weeks. I usually find it embedded in the corner of a wall along with a few layers of skin and a small chunk missing from the watch itself... and I never even noticed. :D

I have a Seiko which has died after 4 years. I now dislike Seiko since my local watch repair guy can't work on it. Seiko insists on using sealed motions so they have to be sent off to be repaired. Kind of bums me out.

And I'm sure the Death of the Elmo watch would have been an accident...;)
