I was at the said store yesterday and one of the pda salesman told me this. He said the new batt will hold a longer charge, and that when it comes out, if you have the b.b. warranty, you can exchange your old batt for the new one. Sounds good to me.

yea actually some will let you. All you have to do is bring it in and show that it is in good working order, and they'll let you. Think about it-they think of it as a pure profit margin, cuz it really is. So, just tell them you got it as a gift and that you'll like a warranty with it cuz its so expensive or sumthin.

Not that I doubt you hearing this, but I doubt that the BB employee was correct. They always tell me goofy stories like that which never come true. One employee told me recently that BB will not carry the NZ90 until later because they would only get ONEshipment with all the new different Sony Clies FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR. He said this even though other BB already had the NZ90, and he said it applied to all the stores. Anyway, my point is, they like to talk, which is fine. It's just not all true.

Hey dks99 -
I'm glad to see you. I was gonna look you up. BB Canada won't let you buy a thing somewhere else and then warranty it. Neither will Future Shop. Compusmart will, but for $150, whereas the other two stores do the warranty for $100.
Anyway, what I did was tell a BB employee about the bundle I bought from Sony during the pre-order. He said to bring in the sony receipt because they wanted to match it and beat it. So I did, and they gave me the unit for 1168.99 and the plan for 100, so total was 1268.98 (before tax). I am quite happy with that, because I don't need the lan card (because I use the nz with my phone). So, even though I hate to use a product and return it, I will be sending my initial unit back to Sony.
PS This particular employee seemed more on the ball than any employee from any store I have met, so I tend to think it's true... but it doesn't matter, time will tell.

I do hope that you are right. We would all like a better battery.

zx7girl, as you said you're using your cell phone to go online. I'm wondering which tel.co are you with?? I'm with Rogers and they don't provide dial-up for cell phone, they count the kb usage instead. It's kind of pricey.

Yes Jedix, the sooner the better :)
Hey sonycrazie, I'm with Rogers too. They offer two types of data plans, one for browsing on your phone, and the other for using your phone as a modem. YOU DO NOT NEED PORTAGE! Please don't waste your money. Unfortunately you cannot get around that terrible kb usage system they all use now. I decided to give them $50/mo. though, because that gets you unlimited use for 6 months... after that it is 10 mb. For web browsing, I would think I would go over the smaller plans' limits pretty fast. I did that a couple of times with my blackberry - went into an ebay frenzy and I ended up with a $400 bill one month. Yikes!!! Make a long story short, Rogers credited me back $350... So, I don't want to do that again :)

Sorry to read about your problems, MAJI. My battery has been fine, but a stronger battery would be even better!

Thanks for the info zx7rgirl
I guess if worst comes I will have to buy the new battery.
I will definitively wait until its proven that it makes a big difference...
BTW, I haven't seen any info anywhere else about this new type of battery. Is it possible to find out from the guy what the model / product no. for it will be ?
BTW, if you don't mind, which BB are you talking about.
I know of just one located in Mississauga, Ontario...
Thanks :)

In order to build a battery sufficient for everyone's needs.... It'll probably need to be a matter/anti-matter battery with a containment field around it.
Beam me up Scotty!

Well.. antimatter would be the prototype,
in reality it might came as a little addon / attachment:
you plug these two cables into the CLIE's, run the cables along your arm up the sleeve and into a large car battery stored in your backpack...

zx7rgirl,
I'm starting to wonder now, if the whole battery thing was just a scam by the BB salesperson to get you to buy their warranty ?
True ? - don't know,
Possible ? - absolutely
these guys will do almost anything to make the sale...

Unfortunately,
Most salespeople will say most anything for a sale. Most people aren't as knowledgable about all products. I've found it worse with companies who have salespeople on commission. Usually before I buy a product which is over $100 .... I try and do as much internal research as possible... comparing features, pros/cons, issues before heading to the store. I have doubts, as several responses in here, a teenager from BB who can barely spell Sony ..... knows more than what Sony has released to the public. I don't think BB nor other retailers have a 'direct-inside-track' to Sony and get privy information .... on things they only have in development.
I've found many good pieces of information regarding PDAs from a multitude of sites, (ClieSource, PDAGeek, PalmInfoCenter....etc). The combination of all these sites and more will give the buyer much more information than a salesperson in a store which sells 1000+ different items.
Just my $.002

You know ice-man, I've walked into Sony stores and known more about their products than they do! That's scary.
As far as BB, I told the guy first that I wanted the warranty anyway, so the sale was a done deal. He then asked me what I thought about the unit, and I told him I love it, although I then mumbled something about the battery, and that is when he said that the sony guys said they were working on a longer batt. The sales guy then said that since the BB warr. covers the batt that I should bring my batt in for replacement. His name is Miles, he works at the BB in Woodbridge. He seemed really down-to-earth, and I can really sniff out a knob when I see one. This guy seemed okay.
I told him I would have bought the nz from BB in the first place but that BB did not know when they would get it. He said that he gets frustrated with that too and that Sony does not like BB.
I'm going back there on Sat. to get an nz for my father, so when I see Miles I'll ask him about any other scoops etc. Dks99 - I doubt that they have model number for it yet, but I'll let you know anything I find out. (You can still return your nz within 30 days to sonystyle ;)

zx7rgirl,
What ? Return it ?
You mean part with my clie ? no way :)
P.S. I know what you mean about the sony store guys.
I too had to correct the guy a number of times on the NZ90 when I first came to see it....
He was like:
"yes it comes with 2Ghz processor,"
and I was,
"no it has a 200Mhz processor...
"
he was clearly mistaking it with a PC or laptop...
Have fun with your TWO clies :)
P.S. Maybe you can find out from the guy if he know when they will get the MS Pro sticks...
Thanks

I had to train my BB salesman. He didn't even know what a Clie was nor did he know where it was even stocked, so I had to show him. He definitely was no rocket scientist.
Some in other stores are downright dangerous with having a little knowledge.
When was Sony coming out with those new anti-matter batteries?
