This press release is a year old, so this is nothing new. But thanks for the reminder that this is a much cheaper alternative to the (now hard to find) WL100 and WL110.

Guys.. I know it has been asked, but what is the definitive answer on the Hagiwara MS-WiFi regarding the later NX series (80 and 73)?

Hi Treff - I'm a noob here but as a result I've been reading the forums pretty thoroughly. Seems the overall view is the Hagiwara is NOT compatible with the NX80V because Sony's re-configured the CF drivers which means, basically , the NX80V won't run the MS. :(

Which is a shame 'cos I adore my NX80V and haven't found a WL100 or WL110 which I can afford - even on eBay!

Hope I haven't got this wrong :)

I've currently got a WL110 on Ebay, sealed in the original package at $90:

Yeah, but gweilo, $90 is a ripoff. There If you look in the classifieds, there are some going for around $40-$60, which is a far better price to pay.
@Rob: Yeah, I know, it's a big pity the MS-WiFi doesn't work - though many people have claimed to be able to use it on their NX80's! Maybe, if we can "hide" the CF drivers from the OS.. CliéPet ?

I don't know what planet you're on; I just looked in the classifieds (searched for WL100, WL110 and WLAN) and found not a single current classified anywhere near $40. There was one closed auction at $56, but that auction:

* Was for the WL100, not the WL110
* Was for a second-hand card with no warranty, not a factory sealed brand-new card

The only current classified I found for a WL110 has no price whatsoever, just "best offer" - a sure sign that you're only going to get the item if you pay more than it is worth.

$90 is FAR from a ripoff. It is *less* than I paid for the card, and far below Sony's MSRP price of $149.99 - not to mention that new, sealed WL110 cards are hard to come by. Even the buy it now price of $125 is below Sony's MSRP by some 17%, and below Brando's price by $14.

Plus I only charge the actual shipping cost, unlike many Ebay sellers who gouge you on shipping to inflate their profits.

The WLAN card has now been sold (for $125, so much for it being "too expensive" lol).

I will have only one more of these available in the next few days.

I could rebut the post - WL100 is better than WL110 for example, and also - "it is *less* than what I paid for the card" - no **** sherlock! Captain obvious, full sails ahead! 99,99% of the time, if you sell something 2nd hand, it will be for less!

You're stating your opinion, nothing more. For one thing, the WL110 includes both power and link LEDs; the WL100 includes only a link LED. For another, PEG-NZ90 owners have no choice but to use the WL110 - the WL100 isn't compatible with their device. They'd dispute your claim that the WL100 is "better".

As for your second point, the WL110 I was selling is not "second hand", it was new, sealed in the package, with a full Sony warranty - and the listing price was below my own cost. Perhaps Captain Obvious should invest in some glasses and a course in basic reading comprehension?

The fact of the matter is that second-hand WL110s are selling on Ebay for significantly above what I listed a new, sealed WL110 for - so the price was a good deal. Ever hear of a little thing called supply / demand?

Just because you're too cheap to pay market price, doesn't make that market price invalid. :p

With the extra LED.. Are there extra drainage of the battery from the WL110 compared to the WL100? If so, is it really significant?

Just curious...

Think I started a battle when I didn't mean to. Then I went on vacation for two weeks so I haven't kept up with what's been going on.

However I've found a WL100 on eBay and I've bid for that. Which means I'll probably get outbid. And have to keep hunting. I'll keep my eyes on gweilo8888's posts for sure in case you've got any more bargains. ;)

Earth to Ebay newbies: get on a T1 or DSL/Cable line and DO NOT BID until the LAST 10 seconds of the auction.

I repeat: DO NOT BID UNTIL THE LAST 10 SECONDS OF THE AUCTION.

If the price hasn't hit the ceiling prior to that last ten seconds, then place your max bid (the most you will pay) and wish for the best.

This strategy is called sniping and works wonders for those who really want an item.

p.s. I have the Hagiwara and the WL110 and $90 for a new one is not a bad price at all. Anyone who says it is too much probably doesn't really need/want one and is probably living in mom's basement.

i mean
if some one likes the WL110 better than WL100. let them be. i mean, i got my WL100 at a Circ CIty for $80, and right next to it was the WL110 selling for $120. i am pretty happy with my buy. and i can tell you it has more features i could guessed when i bought it.

i you have the correct PC laptop card reader and the Drivers installed (from intel ) you can "upgrade" a non WiFi integrated laptop in to a WiFi laptop and then maximize the life and utility of the card.

However, this can not be for the WL110, because it uses a Chip not developed by intel. It was developed by Sony and they do not release the drivers.

also there is the fact that the WL100 has a bit better range than the WL110, but you can say it's not that important.

so you can say that i am happy with my buy. and that's why i consider the card to be better. but that is me. it works for me. and i use it in the way it is useful for me. may be there are WL110 users that have a better point of view of the card they have. and i would be good to share their experiences so that some one interested in buying one can decide on their own.

i am a Med School Student, have seen many people Die, and Live For the Better.

so please don't hassle over small things. enjoy your Clie and Help others who have not gotten WiFi find a better solution.
