I'm in the market for a new PDA to replace my old Clie... I don't want to spend much so I came down to 2 choices... The SJ22 and Palm m515.

I bought the SJ22 from Bestbuy and try it out. The screen is AMAZING. The unit is a little bulky, but I can live with it.... But the thing that really annoys me is, the OS and the Apps just don't keep up with the technology...

I've tried Agendus 6 and Datebk5's hi-res support. I've put fonthack123 and got it working. But I'm not happy with the result. The OS and the Apps are designed for 160x160, and they work the best that way, putting them on a 320x320 screen with hacks just doesn't appeal to me...

The m515 also has 65k color, but is low-res, but the popluar apps are designed for low-res anyway, and it is less bulky too. I hate to pay more for a worse screen, but I just don't see any benefit from a hi-res screen with the current software support..

I read an article about OS 6 shipping later this year and it'll have better support for hi-res on the OS level. But with the SJ22 I can't upgrade to OS 6 (all other 4.1 machines) anyway...

My primary use for a PDA is datebook, todo and memo, NOT ebook viewer, mp3 player, browse the web or even movies on a PDA....

Comments from you Clie experts?

I have an SJ30 and my wife has an m515. Mostly because of the SJ30 screen, she wishes she had the SJ30... as she constantly reminds me.

I honestly don't know what you're talking about when you say that apps works best at 160x160. DateBk5, SuperNames and many others apps that take advantage of the hi-res screen look great on my Clie.

Maybe you should give your SJ30 to your wife and get a new Clie :)

I mean datebk only has limited support for hi-res, the interface (menu, icons, alerts etc) are still low-res....

What I want is hi-res support on the OS level, which I think may come out in OS 6...

Um, trust me when I say that the M515's screen is utter crap compared to the clie's. You can see that everything is pixelated and such. Buy the 22-the apps look good on a hires machine. It makes no sense that you would want an inferior device.

The SJ22 is slightly thicker, but it far out-preforms the 515.

Once you go hi-res you just can't go back.

PS: If I remember correctly, only the SJ33 has mp3, no the 22.
