I purchased a Sena case for my NX back in January, and I just wanted to follow up with a quick review/report...
I purchased the "Ultra" version with the belt clip. I chose the "all black" version because I thought it looked the most "professional". It shipped within a couple days and looked excellent. The packaging was great and the NX fit snugly. No complaints at all. It was better quality than I expected.
Jump ahead two months...
Overall, I still like it. It has held up quite well, and it gives me a better confidence that my expensive NX is protected. I still rate it highly, and I have only three main observations after two months:
1. "Chipping" around the edges
Within a couple weeks, I noticed a bit of "chipping" around the edges. I describe it as chipping because the substance used around the edges to seal the edges is hard, and has cracked off in a few places. It's not bad, but enough to make the edges look "rough". To fix it, I just used some standard Black Shoe Polish (cream). In fact, I have applied the black shoe cream twice to the entire case to keep it "conditioned", and it still looks sharp and smooth. A Black "Sharpie" marker also does the trick around the edges if you are in a pinch ;) For those of you with colored versions, I can't speak to how to fix them.
2. Stretching around the main holder pouch
Over the past two months, the main "pouch" that holds the Clie into the case has slightly stretched. This is probably expected because leather DOES stretch, but while it was very snug before, there is now a bit of "play" so I am not as confident that it will hold my NX without slipping. To correct this, I attached a square of Velcro tape to the back of the Clie and to the inside of the case. I attached the Velcro right over the "Clie" logo about a 1/2" from the top. When I slip the NX into the case, the Velcro now secures it nicely. It does bulge very slightly, but it's hardly noticable. In fact, I have both white and black Velcro tape, so I put a white strip on the Clie and a black strip on the Sena case, and it blends in excellently.
3. Overall "softening" of the leather
The leather has nicely softened. It's a bit more flexible which is nice. My only concern is in the "hings" of the case. The case has a slot cutout to allow you to keep a WiFi card installed in the CF slot. This leaves two "strips" measuring about 7/16" each to serve as the "hinge" point. I have noticed some very light cracking and stress marks on these strips, and this could be a point of failure in the future. Again, some leather cream should keep these soft and pliant.
Overall, I consider the Sena NX Ultra case to be a good expenditure. I would definatly recommend it.
