Need help with audio conversion!

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong forum. I'm trying to listen to lectures encoded in low-bitrate mp3 on my clie. For some reason, pTunes keeps stopping in the middle of playback.

Is there a free program that I can use to convert the mp3 files to higher bitrate mp3 files or to wmv? Many thanks!

I use easy cd ripper http://www.8to32.com/org/ ...
However you can't convert music from low bitrate to high, becose then sound will go bad, i mean VERY bad..
