Lenses for digital cameras

Hey All, I purchased a Sony DSC-W1 this past summer. I love the camera. I noticed that Sony sells several lenses that you can attach to the camera using an adabpter.
There are also many other manufacturers who sell lenses for the DSC-W1.

I am curious if anyone has purchased any lenses for their digital camera? If so, what was the manufacturer of the lens and type of camera it was used for? Also, what was your experience with the lense? Did it take good quality photos with the lense and adapter?

I used lens addons from adorama for my old camera. It was an olympus 3megapixel, I forget the model off hand.

The process is fairly simple, however, you will want to pay attention to width of optics. Most telephotos only let you use the magnifying 1.5x lenses if you are already zoomed out. So if your intention was to keep it on often, you might be disappointed.

Like I said it's fairly simple, though you will want a nice blast of canned air to blow dust off your optics before you attach. You just tripled the dust surface area (outside new lens, inside of new lens, and outside of camera). Keep it from getting dusty in the first place is the easiest way.

The filters are harder to use because you cannot use the viewfinder, you must use the preview screen to adjust polarization, and others.

All in all, it is only a little more odd process than doing a 35mm, but still relatively satisfying.

Hey Eric!

How impress are you with your new sony digital camera? Me, very impressed. I love the almost every single things of it. The resolution is amazing, you can almost see every details.

Oh the Optional Lenses!! Great add-ons. But i haven't purchased one yet. Yes! you actually need two pieces. The Adaptor and the Actual lens. If i were you buy sony branded ones. Sony doesn't make things that are worthless. the negative side is the prices. Higher than you and me expect to pay for such accessories. Consider Ebay you might come across some used and affordable ones. Just be sure to buy only those specifically for Sony DSC-W1.

yep, I too love my DSC-W1 camera... the 3x optical zoom is great.. as well as the large view finder. -oh, also full VGA movie mode is great!!
