just downloaded fastCPU. figured it could help me lower the frequency for some programs, save up some power - t665's are pretty bad on battery life.

so what do i discover - despite that it has a step of 1 MHz, the actual performance does not change within specific regions. so basically you have like 3 choices under 66 MHz (normal for Super VZ), and then about 3 - above 66 MHz (the highest corresponding to about 87 MHz, not 99 MHz as the manual specifies). i noticed it in a couple of programs at first, but then i used kinoma player (it has a very simple performance test) to get the actual numbers (i can post these if someone's interested; you can clearly see distinct jumps).

i am wondering if many other people encountered the same fastCPU behavior. what model do you have? maybe it is specifically Super VZ's problem. i couldn't find any useful reviews of the program, or find any hint at an explanation of this in fastCPU documentation (which is quite poor, btw).

how many people use fastCPU - do you generally find it buggy (i had a couple of hard resets so far, and a bunch of soft ones after using it for about 5 hours) or is it pretty good at conserving power/wringing out performance?

I bought it after using it on and off with the intention of using it for a few apps that take a while to load on my T615 (i.e. PalmReader) but noticed such a HUGE loss in battery power I almost don't feel it is worth it.  I might go back to it and run PalmReader on higher speen and the others at a much lower speed.  As for the resets, I haven't had a reset due to FastCPU, not that I know of.  I am not sure how good of a product it is, feels pretty mediocre, and probably not worth having already paid for it.

I have no probs with my SJ30. I use it to speed up select apps and not to conserve power. I've been happy with the performance boost and haven't found it buggy at all.

IMO, FastCPU works wonderfully on 33MHz processors, but does little for 66MHz processors, and does lead to more resets. Used it on a T415 and a T665.

I used FCPU 2.8 with good effect on my 33 MHz T615C, but FCPU 3.0 was nothing but trouble on my 66 MHz T665C. I grew tired of the resets and finally removed it. Repeated request to MegaSoft2000 for fixes have fallen on deaf ears.
