View Full Version : Odd sound in TG50

Okay, I just got my TG50 Monday, up from an SJ33. The SJ had nice MP3 playback but the TG is a big improvement, 2 more bass settings a little higher output. I do however notice a strange looping feedback when when using my headphones when songs are in a lull or during moments a low sound or silence.
I am using the same headphones as my SJ33, Sony Fontopia's, and never noticed it before. I also tried a different set of phones in the TG50, same thing.
If you play a song and turn the volume all the way down you can hear it, like a faint rusty wheel turning over and over.
Anybody else have this?

That should be interference from some source.

I suspect is the blueTooth interfering the headphone

Hmmm, Im not using any Bluetooth and have it turn off at the moment.

would the noise coincide with the memory stick "data access LED" firing up?

Sometimes LED do make some noise

Don't take my word....I am not professional...but worth a try

He shoots...he scores! You are correct sir. I turned the volume down completely and the looping sound occurs every time the LED lights. Can someone tell me if their TG50 does the same?
If not I may have some sort of poor ground internally.
If not I suppose I can put up with it since mostly what I listen to is loud and obnoxious :D

I often hear static when no music is playing and I am just tapping around.

well, Can anyone PLEASE listen to their MP3 player with a set of earphone on with the volume all the way down and tell me if they hear a wheeling sound every time the Memory Stick light comes on?
Thanks ;)

I've heard that same sound! Man, I hope that Sony could come out with a fix for it. It's really annoying to hear. My suspicions are the headphones are picking up electrical interference from the circuitry for the MS slot. I think we have one of our possible "phantoms" with the TG50.

Cool....well cool in the thought that I don't have a defective unit. If it was just mine I was going to return it.
Thanks

Dude, I can barely hear the noise (which does indeed correlate with the memory stick light) to which you are referring. My advice: crank it up, man!
