Heya peeps! I recently sold my NX70 and bought a brand new T5 :D
But! I have absolutly no idea of what to do with it! I have never even used a tungsten! To me its the same as learning a new language. As i speak, my T5 is on its way through air mail. PLEAS GIVE ME SOME IDEAS OF WHAT TO DO WITH MY NEW T5.

-Thanks in advance to the peeps who responded-

Just be very, very careful what you put on it. Lots of apps are full of little unwelcome surprises in the form of fatal errors, hotsync crashes, and sluggish performance. Until PalmOne issues a patch.......nurse it.

Same as learning a new language? Generally speaking, I wouldn't expect it to be much different than using your NX. I went from an NX70V to a T3 and it was quite an easy transition. In fact, setting it up was much easier because of the ample memory. I didn't have to mess with JackFlash, for example.

I'd suggest you install Uninstall Manager to help prevent problems as you load your apps (see SuperSaiyan's comments above). Then begin adding your software an app at a time.

Good luck!

-Thanks in advance to the peeps who responded-I don't think it is quite as dramatic as all that . . . I'd encourage you to read the T5 threads in the Tungsten forum. It would be a good start, at any rate . . .

Good luck! I'm SO jealous!

What you need depends on what you want to use a T5 for, obviously.
The majority of people I know use a PDA mainly for your PIM data - manage your contacts, appointments, tasks and keep short notes. I have seen people with iPaq PPCs or Palms who underuse their PDAs (they have no idea how to use Wifi, Bluetooth etc). I suggest you keep the T5 relatively bare of 3rd party apps until you are familiar with what comes out of the box. The interface is somewhat different from the NZ70 but you should quickly get used to it.
Subsequently you might want to experiment with perhaps:
- e-books (Palm Reader, iSilo, Plucker)
- listening to MP3s (apart from the Real Player, there's also pTunes or Aeroplayer)
- managing Office documents (use D2G 7.0 which comes with youtr T5 but do register your app and get the free upgrade to 7.003)

I use the T5 to manage my PIM data heavily (I have like close to 5000 contacts on my Palm) and highly recommend Agendus. Version 9.02 seems to work alright on the T5.

Hi Danopoly – Heather from palmOne writing.

Hi Heather from palmOne.
I'm glad someone from palmOne is monitoring this board.
I am a Palm user since 1997.
Could you provide feedback to the powers-that-be that the T5 has some serious annoyances which need fixing ASAP:

1) The Contacts Quick Connect does not allow one to link to the builtin SMS
2) The Find is buggy

I know the answers are found in the Support side but they are really lame.

I view my T5 as a "temporary Palm" after my T3 (my THIRD replacement T3) started giving digitiser problems again.
A lot of us PDA users DO NOT want a smartphone but would be very interested to see a good dual wireless PalmOS powered machine coming out from palmOne.

Sorry for going OT but just to vent a little ;)

Danopoly - a good place to start is Lance's sticky software thread at the top of this forum. That will, at least, tell you what NOT to install because it's not yet compatible with the T5. Most software programs will have a trial so you can try before you buy. As said above, Uninstall Manager, will allow you cleanly remove any software that you trial and decide not to keep.
